CBS This Morning aired an interesting piece about Vegas trying to attract more millenials with games of skill more reminiscent of Xbox than vegas:
Las Vegas reinvents casinos
And some bonus coverage:
Video games pay out in Vegas
The new Gamblit Game Station
Grab Poker gets Interactive and Social
Personally I'm not sure how I feel about this, although if they had pinball machines that payed out I'd be in the money!
The future of casino gaming (video)

Not being a millenial, I'll take a pass on joining this latest advance in gaming technology.

I didn't even know what a Millenial was and had to look it up on Wiki. Now if they come up with something for Boomers, I hope it will be in large print.

I watched these, got intrigued by "Grab Poker", but found this YouTube.

Looks cool until the CEO says the "hold" of the game would be 10% to 20%. Unless he is using the "table game definition" of "hold" (i.e. the average patron will lose 10% to 20% of their original buy-in for a given session), that's a ripoff! That game plays fairly fast and even 90% return would be horrendous!

I have been reading up more about these skill based slots. It seems like the best player out of the bunch will be rewarded, like poker tournaments.
I can live with a 10%-20% hold as long as the average length of game play is significantly longer than a two dozen of video poker hands or a dozen slot spins. But Grab Poker does look fast paced. The Guitar game and Candy Crush game should last more than two minutes.

I read more detail on the game. Games are about 1 per minute. So yeah, that's a rough game. But they also hinted at the games being low stakes to keep it "social" ~$1 per player per game. So it's not horrid then. I'd try it at least.

Think I'll stick to card games. At least I feel like I have a say in the game out come. I've never been much for video games anyway.

I only play video poker at the casinos. I think the casinos are putting less and less poker machines in their casinos. I guess guest are liking the colorful flashy things that don't allow you to use any part of you brain. I think I'm showing my age!

The casinos will never get it right. I dont even think skill based games belong in casinos only, and that's probably the problem.
