I agree that tournaments are different. Same is true for VP tournaments.
Both of these losses were in the first round, I need to make it past the 2nd round to cash. I've made it to the 2nd round a couple of times but never past it. However, I only play in these because the casino doubles all points earned for the day of the tournament. I typically earn $30-40 worth of points and the entry for the tournament is only $20. No brainer.
Blackjack of course.

I've never been to a Harrah's tournament. However, most of the LV tournaments are NOT speed. Generally, you get something like 1000 credits and have 15-20 minutes to play. That works out to a rate of 600-800 hands/hour to complete them all. Not slow but not JUST speed.

Harrahs has the best comps diamond card gives alot of free rooms food etc. but one must play 98.91% 5 play quarter deuces hope not to lose more then 4-5 hundred dollars to make diamond in a day good for 1 year get 125 worth of food comps plus 20-30 room nights some weekend in the year. then play 1 point 10 dollars coin in each visit. then play at palms fp deuces or stations fp machines. on holiday play live poker angainst week field of tourists

I love blackjack as a backup to my video poker playing.
I like to have about $100 to play at a five dollar table. I prefer having $200 or $300 to play video poker.
Blackjack is a great game especially if everyone has at least some idea what they are doing and why they do it. Example a person always stands on 16 means they are not going to take a card and I can live with that. However, breaking tens drives me crazy! One time guy split tens and then got another ten and I demanded he split it as well since he did not like to have twenty!
I think I made him mad !
Of course, he won all three and rest of the table lost our hands as we had held with a six showing. He was happy and told us so. I told him to have a great night playing and left the table.

Well, you have to do what you have to do Willcoxfun, but in reality, what anyone else does at the table has no effect on your own outcome. By that I mean that as play proceeds, the person making mistakes will help you as often as hurt you. But, if there is someone obnoxious at the table, I encourage them to split tens and 5's and Double on Blackjacks. The sooner they lose their money, the sooner I won't be annoyed by them! Now, give me a +7 count and if I think I can dodge the Heat, I'll split the hell out of Tens!

Mike I hear you and agree with you 100% on that silly play will not hurt in long run. I guess I just had enough of him LOL! I wish I could learn better to count correctly as that is the best way to have a good chance to win.
