Very disappointing to hear OMT about the mailer. The $30 a night will barely cover a meal, your only choice will be the Laugh Factory for the show, not sure how they come up with the freeplay amount particularly when the comp earning percentage was one of the lowest I've ever seen.
I should have included a reference to the amount of play that generated the mailers, since that information is always relevant.
In two and a half days of play there, our total coinin was $42000-$44000 each, all on video poker.

I saw Mama Mia there twice in the short time it was open and was surprised how nice the casino was compared to the last time I was in there. I like the M so we can always shuttle over if we don't like the Tropicana. Thanks for the information on the shows - tickets to either one is part of the free trip.

I did half the amount, since they disabled the 50/100 play machines while I was there. If that is the mailer amount you got, I can forget caring what I will get.
I did lose a chunk at the end over $1000 since I had to play the single line games without much luck, the casino host gave me a phone call about my stay and saying they wanted me to come back.

If you read my last post, your only choice is the Laugh Factory.
If you like resorts with good swimming pools, you will like this resort.
We have been fans of the Tropicana for years. The remodel is a few years back. The rooms are very nice and the staff treat guests very well. The Paradise Tower is smaller but if you want to be close to the casino ask for it. Video poker is on par with MGM Mirage. I always stay Sunday thru Thursday on slower nights.
Offers are everywhere because July thru September is the slowest time of the year, with August being the slowest.
Green Valley Ranch Resort is about 10 miles away.
Silverton Casino/Bass pro shops is 5 miles away both offer better pay tables. I play exclusively at the Tropicana because they treat us very well.
Have fun!!
About the video poker, it is hard to compare it to the MGM across the street because it went through the Profit Growth Plan. When Penn National Gaming took over Tropicana, they made some of it better, if you are not on the 50 or 100 play machines, you have to go into the high limit room for good VP.
I think I like the Mlife Players Club way more than Marquee Rewards.
Nevermind, I think MGM has better VP if you could get a seat on the spin poker machines.

I tend to stay away from the pools as I prefer the smokey crowded casinos. . I do like going to the spa though and will check theirs out. M has a very nice one and an 80 minute was $50 less than Mandalay Bay.
I attended the Marquee Millionaire tournament last year (M) on a free trip won at our local casino. Other than that we have been locked into Mandalay Bay for years and rarely venture out except for a show. I look forward to exploring new and old casinos. I've heard great things about Cosmopolitan and plan to get my foot in the door while I'm there.
The Laugh Factory sounds fun too. Thanks for the tips!

Did they tell you why?

Unfortunately I did not bother asking. A mistake on my part. It was available the first night I got there but I played 3 line $1 on the first day. When I tried the next day and the day I departed, it was disabled.
Casinos usually disable machines to avoid paying taxes/revenue to the government, but this one also had a tape on the bill acceptor saying Out of Order as well.
I will learn from it, I should be freely asking questions.
