Blackjack

Post by xxxxxxxxxxxxx »

Stayed at MGM Las Vegas last month and it was the first trip in a few years. Was surprised when I got paid 6:5 instead of 3:2 for a twenty-one. That was my last 21 hand. The dealer said the whole strip had converted to 6:5. When did this happen? I prefer downtown but was with the kids and so ended up on the strip--is downtown 6:5 pay on blackjack also?

The switch to the lower blackjack payoff began about 2 years ago.

Downtown may be switching as well but there will be some who will remain 3:2 and advertise and exploit their higher blackjack payoffs.

The transition to 6/5 Blackjack payout on the strip is no urban legend. Coupled with the fact that these strip casinos also require high table minimums AND very low theoretical loss comps, blackjack is no longer the game it used to be.

Play at off strip casinos while you still can.

have not played BJ in years, barely know basic strategy and have not kept up with changes in payouts. but, i have often mentioned the new reality of casino play/comps and recently was criticized for saying it again and told it was old news. here is another example of the evolution of mostly downgrades to player odds that continues.  thanks for posting changes, as i feel somewhat vindicated.

There have been many articles written online by knowledgeable gambling experts who believe casinos on the strip are trying to take advantage over clueless players by offering 6-5 Blackjack.

The new Vegas on the strip is now practically high end clubs and restaurants to appeal to the general public rather than knowledgeable players. Those bring in a ton of revenue as well. If they decide to play a little, they will fall into the 6-5 Blackjack bait.

I do not know if my eyes are deceiving me, but I counted 13 x's. It takes 12 strikes to bowl a perfect 300.
