Tropicana
So I've won a trip to the Tropicana including flight, room, F&B and some Freeplay. Has anyone stayed there since the remodel? And how is the VP? I'm tempted to check in, play my Freeplay then move to my regular resort but if it's recommended on here I may give it a try. Or it might be a good opportunity to base there and explore places I've never been like Green Valley & Red Rock as I've been playing exclusively at MGM/Mirage properties for years . I appreciate any suggestions.

My wife and I will be staying at the Tropicana June 28-30. If you can wait until then, I can post some comments here.

Hope VP is better than Tropicana AC, which is getting worse the more money they pour into the facility itself. I was thrilled to crawl away a $5 loser yesterday.

I never been to the Tropicana since the PNG acquisition and remodeling, but I was surprised to see in my mailbox today, a full RFB offer from the Tropicana.
3 Night Stay, $75 food credit, $50 free play credit
Once a month for July, August, September
I am a Marquee Rewards member, but that should be inactive status since I last visited the M Resort back in August 2014, and have not returned since. The mailers stopped coming since Fall 2015 season. I also left a winner that day.
I am not sure about this, but it seems to me that the casino is desperate for visitors to offer me such a deal as a player who has not put in significant play at the M Resort.

They could be desperate, but I would be surprised as they SHOULD be using Tropicana (and M Resort) as Vegas "feeder" properties for loyal Hollywood players.
I'm assuming they are sending you a "teaser" since you are on their record.
And I'm glad someone on this forum got one of the free trips! My g/f and I signed up most days to no avail. :(
It may not be there anymore, but in Aug. 2015, I played 8/5 DDB single-line w/Ultimate 4 of a kind Bonus just outside Lucky's Bar for quarters. That pays back about 99.38% with proper strategy. I didn't get a good look at much else other than the bartops blow.

Our recent stay at the Tropicana was prompted by one of those mail offers. Both my wife and I were offered three nights, plus $150 food allowance (actually, $50 per day), and $75 in free slot play.
Then, she won a better offer in the online contest (three nights, $250 food allowance, $100 slot play, plus transportation to and from the airport) so, since we had already booked under the previous offer, she rebooked under the better one. We didn't need the transportation, and were able to swap for a ride to pick up a rental car at the end of our stay.
A really idiotic thing they did was require us each to book a room to be eligible for the offers! At least, they did book us into adjoining rooms, so we could open the interconnecting doors and have a "pseudo suite".
We played exclusively multiline 5c or 10c 8/5 bonus poker there.

The odd part is that I do not recall signing up for anything online from Marquee Rewards.
I stopped by the M Resort that one day to get a seafood buffet pass for 2000 points (took close to 3 hours of quarter VP), and then 1000 more points for the gift of the day which was an umbrella.
My offers from the M Resort was 1 night free stay with $35 free slot play and a free entry to the Studio B buffet.
I was baffled that the introductory offer was much superior than the M Resort mailer and what I get from Boyd.

Much appreciated OMT for chiming in about the Tropicana during your trip.
I guess some people are wondering if it is worthwhile to visit the Tropicana to utilize those offers. Since you and the spouse have already visited the premise after its remodelling, would you consider returning to Tropicana on a future visit even with the M Resort nearby.

We actually discussed that, and agree that it's a nice property, but that we wouldn't make a special effort to return there - unless we get a really strong offer of some kind.
A major negative, in my opinion, is that video poker is $2 per point, and there is no direct cashback nor slot play rewards. You do earn comp dollars, but at a very measly rate. Also, food at the Tropicana is very pricey.
They run a shuttle service between the M and Tropicana. Our thought is that, if we do get the urge to play some multiline low denomination 8/5 bonus poker or airport deuces, we can stay at the M, and shuttle to Tropicana for an afternoon.

I searched for the articles about the PNG acquisition of the property and found out it was completed at the second half of August 2015. Since then, I saw many changes while backtracking on the Tropicana's update history page on vpFREE. I doubt it will be there anymore since the inventory was essentially switched to be similar to the M Resort.
For now the best potential game at the Tropicana is 8/5 Bonus Poker STP (99.442% according to Video Poker for Winners), but it is for dollars and two dollars. I do not know the ADT value assigned to it either.

Thank you very much yet again for more information about the Tropicana. I wish I could pay you back somehow for the information you've provided during your trip.
I was puzzled about the Marquee Rewards club card at the Tropicana as I was not be able to find the point earning system on their website. I am not sure if they purposely made it inferior to the M Resort since the Tropicana is located on the Strip while the M is very much a locals casino.
The shuttle might be the biggest positive. I was thinking about transitioning to Marquee Rewards and playing at both M and Tropicana, and then parlaying the hotel offers back to back like you did before your trip to Laughlin. Need to figure out the good approximate ADT required for RFB. I will start at $10,000 coin in for each to see what comes in the mail.

$2 a point for VP is standard for Marquee Rewards in terms of status. The probably have avoided changing M Resort for fear of local backlash. The comp accrual rate on your player's card varies by property. In STL, it is 0.06% coin-in with an every day kiosk multiplier that is often 2X...blah.
