After our long Laughlin trip, you'd thing we'd be VP'd out, but no....We've been to the DD Pima Mine Rd casino before. Didn't have a lot of success then. This time started the same. After 10 grueling hours of playing .25 DDB progressivewe were down $1900! Fortunately we walked out even. I hit aces with kicker to keepus playing then hit the progressive royal for $2064. The wife mostly struggled to get a couple of 4-A no kicker and dueces w/k....Most of you who play by pay tables would probably avoid these machines as theyare 6/5's. But we could not ignore the progressive. It was at $1700 when we got there. They have 5 or 6 machines in between the dollar machines. Not many people playing and I was surprised at the amount the progressive moved compared to their other property on Nogales Hwy where it barely moves even with all 12 or more machines occupied.Bottom line you need deep pockets on these machines...

rayj,
That is just sick. Glad you got your cash back.
I remember some 9/6 DDB at Pasqua Yaqui. Do you ever play there?

Was the other property 6/5 DDB with a progressive as well? Because it's easy to let the meter move fast when when you seed the game below 95%! Even a $1700 Royal isn't that hot for a machine like that (96.22% max). Nevertheless, good job hitting it though!
It's better than my closest casino though. They are total jerks, 6/5 DDB with a Prog that I have yet to see above the W-2 threshold. But they have a few Superstar Poker units not connected to the progressive and offer 8/5 DDB w/Super Times Pay on them for as cheap as nickels...lol I'm one of the few that plays the non progressive unit since it's a 2%+ better play most of the time.

Went back yesterday. Got our asses handed to us. Hit a 4AWK and a couple of 4AWNK.But gave it back. One thing that happened was this old guy was playing $1 VP at the far end machine and hit the progressive for $10,700. Not sure what game he was playing. I'm still wondering how the progressive got that high?

Some time back I remember hitting a $1 progressive for $11k+. I'm just guessing, but I think that less than max coin players keep feeding the machines and raising the jackpot.

This is definitely some of it. The last two times I have gone to Tunica, a 9/6 JoB unit with a 0.25% meter increase was around 100.1-100.2%. It is a 100 credit penny unit, and still is a good machine to play if you are looking to just bet 5 or 10 cents a hand. Half the players are not max betting there.
The other explanation is that the paytable is so low, their progressive meter could be something like 2%+.
6/5 DDB w/a 2% meter or even 3% = $$$ for the casino.

Went to the DD on Pima Mine Rd again. Our favorite machines were Out Of Service!!They are changing over their player card system so now your points and comp detailsare displayed right on the screen on the left side. This casino does not have a wholelot of VP machines. We were disappointed and left after dumping $100 in a dollar DDBmachine with zero results. So we left and went to the original Desert Diamond near the Tucson Airport andplayed our usual machines. As I mentioned before, the progressive is molassass slow! When we first got there, the Royal progressive was at $1037. 10 hours laterit was at $1048, and that's on a row of 10 or 12 machines that were getting decent play the whole time!Anyway, the wife had a bad time. I hit 4AWK twice and 4ANK once. Fortunately we leftonly down $40.00! We should have left when we were up $600!!

Oh, I mentioned the guy who hit the Royal on a $1 DDB for $10,700.I walked over to that machine and the progressive was the same as all of the other$1 machines. When he hit it, I know the machines near me were at $4800 or so.I'm wondering if there was a glitch in the machine progressive counter? Weird....

Do either of the two DD casinos have quarter DDB progressives and if so are they just on the royal or on other hands as well (AWAK, etc.). Thanks.
