I've tried switching games, coin-in, denominations and every other crazy system I could come up with and I've come to the conclusion that the best way to play VP is to pick a game you like, learn to play it well and go for it.  If you lose, take your lumps and try another day.  My favorite game is DDB, my budget is $300 a session and my goal is to stretch my session to at least 2 hours of play.  Playing dollars goes too fast and playing quarters is boring to me, so I'm a .50 player.   Walking around the casino and changing machines is my way of slowing down my play.  $300 gives me 15 tries at 40 coins each.   If I hit a quad or better, I stay on that machine.  Is this making any sense?  Is there a better way to slow your play? 

You might consider $1 machine at 1 coin.

Tried that.  As soon as I switch to one coin, up pops 4As or a Royal....    Think I'll just play Keno at one coin for 10 minutes between play.

I've lost $1000 in an hour (so many times I could never remember them all) playing dollar VP. That means $300 might easily be lost in 15 minutes or less. I have to agree with Billyjoe. Sounds more like a quarter bankroll.

I agree I would be better off playing quarters.  Using Dancer's formula (Royal times 3.5), I have the bankroll to play .25 Jacks forever.  My wife plays this way and she rarely ever loses more than $100 in a day and most days she makes a little money or comes close to breaking even.  She is yet to get a Royal, but I've had 8 of them in the past 4 years.  Unfortunately, I would rather watch paint dry than play .25 Jacks all day.  At the moment, .50 DDB is working for me if I spread my play out.  It's a 1 1/2 hour drive to the Hard Rock in Tampa and I hate to drive three hours there and back for 10 minutes play.  Like I said, I don't mind losing if I can get in some decent play time.  I love playing VP.  I'm just trying to figure out how to get the most fun for the buck.

Oh, now I see the problem, Phil. You are trying to win at the Tampa wig-wam. As an Elite member there, I can tell you, it is impossible. As far as the "most fun for the buck", get a host to let you in the Plum Room, and chase the cute waitresses around - that's what I do

Yes I know, the Hard Rocks are about the only VP choice in Florida. My days of chasing waitresses are about over, unless it's in my head.  I think I'll stay with walking around between sessions.  You never know what you might find to look at, especially at the Hollywood HR.  I love Cuban food...
