Okay I see the all the post about VP being totally random and some even provide links to sites to further that claim but I kind of lean on the side of hot and cold streaks. In all the years I've played I have noticed that there does seem to be times when many of the machines just hit jackpots within a very short time and then its over and back to normal. I'm a machine hopper and there are times I can play every VP machine in the place and not hit a lick and then all the sudden I can hit on three machines in a row.
Just yesterday I had played for a long time and only hit quads (3's) one time in about 90 minutes of play. I was playing $2.00 Double Double and was going thru some money. I had'nt seen anyone hit anything on any of the VP machines and I was down to my last $600 when I hit a hot streak. I hit quad 2's with a Ace kicker for $1,600 so I got on the machine next to it and hit quad A's with a 3 kicker for $4K got on the next machine and hit Quad A's $1,600 got on the next machine and hit quad A's $1,600. All this happened in less than 15 minutes ($8,800) I had four machines all in a line locked up at once waiting to get paid. I would have played more but there were no more machines open. 
 
So does this sound like a random event or a hot streak? I almost think the only thing random about VP is the Royal Flush and all the rest comes in cycles. This is the way it always seems to happen all at once and then back to normal. 

You were very lucky. You keep playing like that and you'll see that losing streak from hell soon enough.

Yes, that is EXACTLY what to expect from random play. So is getting a quad every so often. So is not seeing any quads for hours. They are ALL aspects of randomness and if you only saw one of these on all your trips THEN you should question whether the machines were random. As long as you see them all over time you can feel comfortable the machines are random. There's a phrase for good streaks like this. "You're living on the positive side of the curve". The results of many gamblers can be plotted on a graph and those who do better than average are on the positive side and those who do worse are on the negative side.
 
Now, if you were following Rob's advice. You could have gone home with $6K less.  There is no advantage to leaving a casino when a winning a large jackpot. There is no disadvantage either. Every hand, whether played today or next week is independent of every other one.
