What to do with those big winnings?
Ever have this happen to you? You're sitting next to a new player who hits a big one, and he or she says, "Gee, what am I going to do with all this money!?". My advice is - do something productive with it!
Every player's situation and goals are different. In my case, when I have a good day I put most of the money to good use. Extra house payment, an extra car payment, replacing old appliances, things like that. Some of it I use for extra "working capital" for gambling. A REAL good day has me also booking a Vegas trip.
Sooner or later, though, the money from nice days works its way back into the machines and I like to look back and see something tangible done with some of it. Thoughts?

I look at my yearly gambling winnings only. I never look at individual jackpots. Some of the things I have used the money for are: helping pay off mortgage on second home, replacing my wife's old car, new golf clubs and a new plasma TV.

Winnings? Winnings? What winnings? If I did have winnings I would like to have a new roof put on the trailer and get the septic tank pumped out.

With my winnings I made a charitable contribution to help rebuild the motorcycle engine of a man who blew the pistons while racing away from Vegas at high speed in the middle of the night following a truly frightening experience at a video poker machine. (Calm down, it was a nickle machine.)

Aw, c'mon - I bet your trailer is plastered with jackpot photos. Just in case I'm wrong, though - if I happen to run into you up at BH make sure the septic tank has been pumped recently before inviting me over for dinner (phewwwww).

You mean year-end winnings, SM? I like to think that I'm disciplined, but I know that I'd fritter away winnings one way or another over the course of the year. In the last month I've had a couple of good days, just in time for my water heater to be replaced and also a new lawn mower. Would rather have spent the dough on a new plasma TV!

cddenver don't fret. Until I get it pumped we use plan B. I keep a couple 5 gallon lard buckets out on the porch for when company comes over and empty them out in the ravine when about 1/2 full.

While waiting for a seat to eat I sat at a machine that had joker kings or better 25 cents. I have never played joker poker before. I looked at the pay outs and put $10 in. My second hand had a joker and king. Result was a wild royal for a 500 credit win. I can see why people who are new to poker can think this is easy when they hit big shortly after sitting at a machine. I played about 10 more hands and hit nothing.
