Anyone have tips on how to make memorizing the strategies easier?
 
I've been practicing at the beginning level of DW NSU on VPW (with 100% accuracy), but after practicing at the intermediate level... I get confused. 
 
Is it a confidence problem? I wish VPW had a MIX setting that included beginning and intermediate levels only.

Like most things in life ... practice makes perfect. You willl get better in time. I find that making mistakes is the best way to learn. The more mistakes I make practicing the better. At some point in time you will find the errors start to disappear. That's the sign you are ready for casino action.

Only a couple of things I could suggest:1.  Submit a "bug report" to the VPW folks requesting another three options on the "Difficulty".  One that would let you select "beginner" and "intermediate" under mixed.  The second to select "intermediate" and "advanced".  The third to select "beginner" and "advanced".  That about covers them all 2.  I've not practiced this one.  It slows me down too much in the casino.  But it's not a bad idea to get or produce a set of "strategy charts" to use while practicing.  For some folks (and no intended insult here!), having something visible and concrete to make reference to aids learning.But I like Shadowman's suggestion best.  It's the one that I've used.  Just practice.  It doesn't take long to recognize that you are making the same mistakes over and over.  Once you recognize that, then you will stop making that particular mistake. 

After a trip to the clinic to get some blood drawn my mind is now working a little better (or maybe it was that 4 cups of coffee ). In any event I use a technique that has helped me quite a bit. I try to "understand" each type of hand's expected return. If I can memorize the expected return for each hand then if I have a decision to make I can just compare the two values in my mind. It takes quite a bit longer to get through a practice session but after awhile your understanding of a game is significantly improved. I think it also helps you understand a game on a deeper level.

Practice, practice, practice.  In my case there are some plays I ALWAYS have problems remembering, so I carry a few notes with me in my man purse (fanny pack?)  What are those things called, anyway?

Go to training style, click overall, and click mixed.He was wanting something a little different.  He was wanting to NOT get the Advanced hands on the "mixed" play.  Just wanted beginner and intermediate.  I guess his idea is to stairstep up the difficulty ladder adding difficultly in increments.Of course, he could start with beginner and practice it until he gets it nailed.  Then select intermediate until he gets those nailed and finally advanced.  That is the way it was intended as can be seen in training mode.

Stairstepping up the ladder of difficulty -- very slowly adding more knowledge to the wee little bit of base stuff I know -- is the way *I* learn best.  I'm a little slower than most at absorbing information.

cd, do casinos allow you to peek at your VP notes?  Can I legally take into *any*  casino, and use the entire strategy sheet?
 
On the TV show, Entertainment Tonight, the man purse was referred to as a "murse".

I've never had a casino anywhere say anything about me reaching into my murse......for a peek at my notes.  Now and again I see players with strategy sheets out their entire session - never seen anything done about that either.  Safer, though, to get as many plays as you can down cold at home and just peek at the "toughies" while in a casino.
