if you get 3 fours and 2 quick quads why do you have to hold all 5 cards? why can't you hold the 3 fours and 1 quick quad and try for a kicker?

You should be able to hold whatever you'd like, except on a dealt royal flush.

Yeah Webman is right. But your wording sounds confusing. Are you saying when you get dealt 44422 why do you have to hold all 5? You don't have to, but it would be a big mistake mathematically not to. Remember to make a hand with a kicker, you must have a natural four of a kind. This is a lot harder to get than a "quick quad".

My question would be why would you not hold all five cards, maybe you do not understand of what constitutes a QQ.

Well, the question is a good one if I'm understanding it now.If you have 44422 and are playing Triple Double Bonus, you could hold 4442 to go for the 2000 payout of 4's plus a kicker by drawing the other 4.Having said that, the sure thing payout of a quad would always win out mathematically. If you want to give up a quad payout (400) for a 1/47 chance at a 2000 payout, you are welcome to, however. That would be the equivalent of giving someone $400 to draw one card from a deck of 47 cards, with the opportunity at $2000 if you drew the right card. I wouldn't take that bet myself.

I wouldn't take that bet either --- but your example neglects other draws.Yes you pay $400 and draw one card. Your average win is $68.93, which is made up of          1 chance to make $2000          2 chances to make $400 (i.e. the other two deuces)          44 chances to make $10 (i.e. you get paid for 3-of-a-kind, at least)If you add up these numbers and divide by 47, you'll get $68.93Voluntarily throwing away $331.07 per line is not the smartest way to get rich gambling! It could conceivably work on one line quick quads. On Ten Play, you're throwing away more than $3,000. You'd need to collect TWO of the 1/47 case fours to not end up losing a bunch. Pretty tough.

I believe EV is >$68.93 (full houses need to be included in the calculation--these pay > the 10 coin 3 OAK)

I would not doubt with what America's Video Poker expert has to say about this matter.

With that said, this is quick quads, completing the full house again with the other 2 deuces has been accounted for, except that it will count as quad-4s since the two deuces can form another 4.

To add my few cents to the discussion, it would be rather expensive to pay an extra coin for the quick quad benefit and not utilize it when given the prime opportunity to.

The other dealt scenarios I can think of is

3332A
222AA
4443A

Thanx. But living up to a "never makes a mistake" standard is impossible.that said, this time I'm confident. before I submitted my earlier response I checked out the wizard of odds hand analyzer for this game and hand. since we matched, I posted with assurance. There are LOTS of good tools out there for players who wish to compete intelligently at this game.I've tried, unsuccessfully so far, to get this kind of data available on this site. (Trying to get it on VPW is beating a dead horse.) I'm still optimistic. The argument I'm getting is that very few players want the information. Bob

VPW can use an update to get some face lifting on the graphics/display. Support for more higher resolutions for modern computers like 1080p and full screen. I also like the modern Game King where if you a dealt a paying hand, there will be white letters indicating what you got and red letters indicating what you've won.

Not sure if Quick Quads is not on VPW because it might cannibalize sales of Gold Membership to this site.

Not every gimmick game (STP, Dreamcard, Spin Poker, ultimate X) Five Star Poker / All Star Poker has customization options for pay tables on GOLD membership.
