I traditionally play slots but a friend of mine who goes regularly to our casino plays video poker religiously. He recently has noticed that instead of playing 5 coins he dropped down to two and has hit more four of a kinds. Is this a strategy he should be using and does it work? Any experiences would be helpful for me to let him know.

I play two coin at least a third of my hands, and I don't notice any difference. The RNG spits quads out whenever it sees fit regardless of denomination or coin quantity. The main benefit is the ability to play longer. And in a big, noisy and smoky casino, that is a dubious benefit.
