Car, there is no compelling reason to choose GN in the dead of winter, and on a weekday to boot. Their pool and hot tubs are excellent outdoor amenities. Harrah's and their pool is the best option. GN VP is abysmal, even at full pay. DB's posts will confirm this. I trust him and have not ventured near it. You wisely avoided certain trouble. The best thing about GN is probably the free parking.

i used to fly into AC every couple of weeks to play, it was the highlight of my month. i looked past the city's bleakness and less than friendly staff, because it offered a good value. i stopped a couple of years ago, now i go once/twice a year, hoping to see improvement and have not seen it yet. there are some who are defensive about AC and i understand. no one wants to hear their city being criticized. but, a combination of casino greed and another poorly run democrat city, has led to where it is today. it did not happen overnight and i doubt that those who are in charge, really understand what they did or how to fix it.   failure is not always bad, if we learn from it. fresh ideas, refocusing on how to do it right, giving the customer value would help the city and the casino business. AC is still the only city in the east, located wihin a reasonable driving distance of millions of people, with a beautiful ocean, with multiple casinos, surely it could should be a successful gaming destination.     i am glad to hear you are still net postive for the last ten years. but, this is the problem i have with dancer and others who proclaim the same longgggg term positive results. it is difficult to find those who are net positive over the more recent years, when the machines changed.

I've had 2 positive years out of the last 5, but I'm not foolish enough to think it was because I was playing positive expectation games. Just over royaled those years on 9/6 Jacks. FAA, the only reason I was at GN was for the happy hour at Vic and Anthonys Steakhouse. Very good. Chart House HH is also very good. Otherwise, a very depressing place.

i think you have a very healthy and realistic view on VP, and i think you are playing the best game, to extend your play and keep losses to a minimum. for those of us who enjoy the game, the best thing we an do is take a realistic view of the current state of play. no need to give it up, just make adjustments and accept it for what it is. the paytables and the math may say one thing, but we need to live in the real world of actual results.  best of luck!

Notes, congratulations on joining the Masters. Yes, players must deal with what's real. If GN and Taj hammer VP victims, cease patronage and victimization. I was in a casino with an okay VP track record with me, Bally's. But still $51 in the red before my quad mercifully gave me a palatable $20 loss. Punishment for playing mid max coin instead of flat CS! Caesars was paying out well also. Besides the JOB RF, a woman in the high roller room won $7200, $25*288. The benjamins were flying. She glared at me taking in the drama and asked for a security guard, presumably to escort her to her loaded Lexus. So long, suckers!

Car, I recently had a memorable quail at Vic's. Chart House is a treat also. Upon reflection, it's nice to be at a casino and not gamble. At GN, it's so poor that I'm not even tempted! I mostly do day trips, missing the city's great HHs.

Yeah, you have to enjoy some of the other offerings. I find the Chart House hh to be the best, considering the view of the Marina and Skyline, especially at sunset. Not quite the same as the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas at sunset, but nice nonetheless.

Two day trips this weekend. They went average to very good. Sat I turned $25 FP into $35. Two hours. Four machines, four quads. That's a personal best. Two were dealt. Such lovely gifts. Consecutive Queens on the last. Lousy net considering two were three coin hits and two five coin hits. But, beats losing.
Today I turned the $25 FP into $52. One $19 quad. Later I drew three cards for a three coin Straight Flush. Not much net profit off it, as I lost $21 in pursuit with my semi CS. Also won $25 off FP table. Nothing like a quick seven with the bones! I met a Seven Stars man who regretted Bally's play. He lost $500 yesterday. He fled full pay bank despite his quad. No CET credit accumulation. Hey, thanks for subsidizing the low rollers! The Straight Flush sure comes my way a lot.

A rough session today. I won a mere $17 with $25 voucher, soon lost. I played almost 2 hours on a $20. It reached $48, then down to bust. $600 coin in, so almost 800 quad free hands. It wasn't my day. Progressive was a whopping $1,010. Also lost a $25 voucher table bet on crapshoot.

Bummer. I've had more than my fair share of those too. Maybe make a small side bet with a buddy on the game. Get it all back in one shot. Think positive. Easy for me to say though. Just come back strong on the next trip. Can't go wrong long term with 9/6 job unless you have that cloud following you around and I haven't seen it in any of your posts.
