Onemoretry - My apologies
let me apologize for failing to get in touch with you either in person or via online here, but yes, the "unexpected" happened to me (on several fronts) and I was totally incapacitated over the past couple of weeks.....I am profoundly sorry if this caused you any inconvenience, and if we ever manage to meet up in person again I will try to make it up to you with either a nice meal or some other extension of my sentiment, I am very appreciative of the effort you put forth to meet up with me as we originally intended by you coming on here and posting from las vegas.I was caught up in the outrageous snow storm that hit Philadelphia after the super bowl back on Tuesday-wednesday (february 4 thru 5).....After checking out of A.C. and heading to Philly after the Super Bowl, I had my original flight to Las Vegas delayed TWICE and then cancelled....the airline attempted to put me up in a Philadelphia Hotel and fly me to Vegas on Friday, but I said no thanks since I was due to be back home in New England by February 10 (Monday)....a 2-1/2 day stay in vegas is not my style. Plus, at the time. they were projecting ANOTHER blizzard to smack the northeast right about the time I was supposed to be heading home from Vegas on Febriary 10, so I just turned around and went back to A.C. after the snow cleared on February 6 and was going to just post here that we should reschedule our meeting for some other time.....So in the meantime, my laptop, which I normally do NOT travel with but had brought along on this trip, just flatout croaked on me, died a sudden and horrible death, and I lost a lot of video poker data which I cannot replace since I also tossed the notebooks from which I entered the data....arrrggghhhh. On top of this, the computer in the business center at the Trump Plaza in A.C. also was totally shut down and no one in the entire hotel could tell me why or when it would be up and running again. Whenever I posted or reported directly from AC it was usually from this computer....I have never used any other business center or computer in AC so I was essentially INCOMMUNICADO until I planned on returning home to New England from AC on February 10.But then, on February 9 after dinner, I was incapacitated by what I thought was another Kidney stone but turned out to be an acute case of food poisoning!!!!!! I wont tell you the name of the restaurant in AC I ate at because, frankly, I may be bringing legal action against them and it may compromise my case if I divulge details, but suffice it to say I am not the ONLY person this has apparently happened to in the last 12 months, and it may evolve into a type of multi-plaintiff case! (I dont believe class action applies here but then again I am not a legal expert so who knows.....but its just one more ridiculous case of atlantic city and its denizens shooting itself in the foot! I spent the next 5 days in agony from barfing and heaving, to the point I aggravated a hiatal hernia and now, even though the food poisoning is subsuded, I am looking at having the hiatal hernia fixed via that scope they shove down your throat while you are half asleep....fun fun fun.I am just now recovering so please, be patient and I will resume posting on here, contingent also on the delivery and set up of my new laptop, and since I was thinking about upgrading and modifying my Home computer system before all this happened, I have also purchased a new desktop system for my home office, which should be arriving any day now.My next trip to AC is scheduled for February 19 (health permitting.) I will attempt to post regarding that trip and anything else I have the chance to discuss.in the meantime, I hope everyone else here is alive and well and coping with the winter blues better than I am!

I am really sorry to read about what you have gone through. There's no need to apologize for things that are beyond your control.
Posting to, and monitoring this site from Vegas turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be. My first post was with my wife's tablet (I'm learning how to use it), and subsequent checking and posting was from one of the internet computers near the front desk at Main Street Station. You can buy time ($5 gets 25 minutes), and create a user account so you can bank unused time and go back later and use it - all in all, it was no big deal.
Given what you went through, I almost hate to say that our 17 day sojourn in Vegas went reasonably well.
There were, of course, many ups and downs. But, at the end, we were ahead on the gambling about $1400. Our total play, mostly on quarters, was around $250,000. Very rarely do I get to say I was "overroyaled", but with five in about 100000 hands, I was.
I don't know that all of our expenses would be covered by the $1400, but it would be close. And, in any event, it was a pretty inexpensive trip, and that's all we're looking for - inexpensive entertainment and travel.
I am sorry our meet did not work out. I think we would have enjoyed each other's company - perhaps another time, or place.
Good luck getting your new computers up and running.
And now, I have to start thinking about our next trip, which is to Laughlin, four days from now!

DaBurglar I'm sorry to hear you were ill, I hope you have a splendid recovery. I was looking forward to hearing the latest happenings on Fremont St.
I now have a desktop p.c. at home, 2 laptops, 2 tablets and one Samsung Galaxy Note3 smartphone. I sometimes wish I could be incommunicado but that's life in the big city.
I forgot to wish Onemoretry good luck in Laughlin. I was last there 2 years ago.

And now, I have to start thinking about our next trip, which is to Laughlin, four days from now! up 1400 bucks??? that's actually a pretty good result playing 25 cent denom! I myself am also primarily a 25 cent denom player and the fact you were there for as long as you were and held on to your winnings is very good. I honestly think it has to do with where you stayed, Main Street station. Anytime I go to Vegas I always stay downtown or off strip because in my experience, you just plain win more and have far less expenses than staying on the Strip. I have my favorite Strip properties, dont get me wrong. And I have had some awesome times on the Vegas Strip. But nothing beats Downtown Vegas for plain old Vegas success via loose(r) slots, better odds at table games, and better video poker. its been that way since I first started going to Vegas back in 1992.Laughlin is a toss up as far as I am concerned......my favorite Nevada alternative to Vegas is Reno/Tahoe....if I am in the mood for fun on a lake, Tahoe is far more friendly, beautiful and safe than Laughlin's River and Lake Havasu ("Have a Few") when you get all those crazy drunken idiots from Southern Cali polluting the lake with their gas guzzling boats and booze laden barges. BUT I HOPE YOU CONTINUE YOUR WINNING WAYS WHEN YOU GET THERE.Tedlark: When and where did you purchase your most recent home computer system?

Most recently I got both; a Kindlefire HD and an Android tablet and prior to that I picked up a Dell Inspiron laptop in August.

DB heal up fast and safely. Also I hope if you have to go through that procedure it will be easy on your system. Not much news from my Mohegan trips. Cancelled several due to the horrible weather. Still no Royals in well over 300k hands. Glad to read some others are having good success so far in 2014. I may be spliting my play with craps and vp when the weather gets better. If so, I will post the results so we can compare them. Would be quite interesting if someone would come up with a vp/craps combo game. They have a slot/penny craps combo game at Mohegan already. The craps part is in the bonus round. Don't play it much because it has the usual low payouts all slots have. As always, good health and luck to all in that order.

Most recently I got both; a Kindlefire HD and an Android tablet and prior to that I picked up a Dell Inspiron laptop in August.Ballpark, what did you pay for your Dell Inspiron? I am seriously considering getting one....On
a different topic, my last visit to AC back during the week before, and
then after, the Super Bowl, was actually semi-profitable in terms of gambling (not so much gastro-intestinally), the first
time in (literally) years that I have had such a trip.......between two
victories in small (under 50 people) No Limit Holdem poker tournaments, and hitting 4
aces with kicker on the progressive 25cent DDB machines at the Taj for $598, I
finished up on the trip about 1200 bucks.....of course I would have
gladly traded that money in for avoiding the barfs and all that friggin
snow in Philly.Anyone ever been to the Sugarhouse casino in
Philly? while I was there frantically trying to get a flight during
the blizzard, I briefly thought about visiting that place, but at the last minute I declined.Other than that, my time in AC around super bowl was typical....the newspapers continue to lambast and lament the state of the city's casino economy, which shows signs of getting worse if you can believe it......currently, AC has sufficient gambling and sightseeing visitors to support only 6 casinos, not the 11 they have right now......I can attest to something else, and let me first apologize to Doris for saying this, but it's the truth: The Taj Mahal is an absolute DUMP....it is literally crumbling and breaking down from disrepair and lack of upkeep/maintenance. If any of you have been there you know what I speak of.....back in January, I reported about how the bus bay at the Taj had its concrete and stucco ceiling collapse right where the Greyhound Bus parks, and it is only by the grace of God Almighty no one was seriously hurt. And of course, rather than fix it, the Taj has just left it as is, so no if you pull into the Bus Bay there is a HUGE gaping ugly ridiculous HOLE where the roof and side used to be....it looks like Damascus instead of a luxury resort! Of course, that is just the tip of the iceburglar......the elevators shake and shimmy when you whisk up and down the hotel floors, and its only a matter of time before the wrong people get trapped or injured and sue them for every cent they DONT have.....I'm sorry, but its just absurd......if Donald Trump knew the true extent of the decay, even though he is only a minor player in ownership now, it is still his NAME on the door.....I spoke with a security guard (an old timer who has been there since they opened) and he filled me in on whats going on.....one morning we were discussing the broken pipes in the Taj that flooded the casino floor and damaged a bunch of machines....he said current management laid off 90% of the maintenance staff/crew a year ago to cut costs, and they only fix stuff when it absolutely breaks beyond repair by calling in outside contractors who charge by the hour.....so you see where this is going, in an effort to boost their quarterly bonus by saving a few bucks on repairs, management has actually doomed the Taj to MUCH higher overall costs with the risk also of major damage or injury. It is SUB MORONIC

why apologize to me,i haven't been to the taj in about 2 years.Oh, I see.....well then, let me apologize for apologizing! lol I thought you'd be upset for me reporting more negative aspects of yet another AC Hotel Casino, even though they are 100% true. I had thought you spent a lot of time at the Taj but obviously you do not and I think I confused you with another poster here who does spend a lot of time at the Taj.I do not know what your secret is Doris, to be able to visit AC and not be affected by all the problems and shortcomings....or perhaps you just have not seen the things I have seen, or perhaps you do not see anything wrong with AC at all.....everyone is different and has different priorities. What AC properties do you visit and play at the Most?

DB...Even though A/C is in its present state and will probably be worse by spring, I am going to plan a visit sometime this spring just for a change of pace if nothing else. I used to like Harrah's Marina quite a bit. Would you go there or somewhere like Borgata or maybe another place that is on the Boardwalk? I would prefer decent vp paytables. As long as the rooms are clean, I don't care how fancy they are. Food isn't a top priority either, since I am on a New Year's diet for now...lol...Thanks...Oh, I guess I could use my Mohegan Sun points at Resorts. I think that is theirs now. I haven't paid too much attention to it. Any input by you or others appreciated.
