Public speaking is a funny thing. It ranks as the one the more fearful things in people's lives. I have been making engineering presentations at public hearings for 35 years. Never took a public speaking course or lesson. I learned as I went. It was a little painful at first, especially since most engineers aren't known for their communication skills. Once I figured out that I knew more about the subject matter than my audience, I calmed down quite a bit. Then tailored my presentations to the specific audience. A little more blunt talk to a blue collar town, a little more technical to an affluent white collar town. No magic, just common sense. I believe anyone can do it. Now I'm bored with it and have started to think I'm a stand up comedian, which is not a good thing. I'm a few years from retirement so i just don't care anymore.

cuomo's presser today;

-bad news-most deaths since this all started
-good news- almost everything else

-as predicted, the deaths would mount even after the curve flattened or turned.
-he stated there are now some medical facilities that are discharging more patients than taking in new ones.
-while this put a strain on nyc healthcare, it never hit the need and predictions that we have been hearing about.
-remember cuomo saying, 'you pick the 26,000 people who are going to die', if he didn't get all the ventilators he wanted.
-cuomo and nys were totaling unprepared, they wanted the rest of the country (taxpayers) to bail out their state with huge preexisting financial problems. they got billions!
-the predictions have all been over blown. i would like to say i predicted this, but that would not be true. but, i remember others on this site doing so.

it seems that in general, the predictions were all too high, when it came to deaths and those who are ill.

the deaths are bad, but better than expected. and yet, with all this better news, i can't seem to find any articles even mentioning the better than expected news. the media wanted to keep pounding on the deaths, while leaving out the possible bending of the curve.

i wonder why the media is ignoring any mention of good news?

nys-has 37% of all cases in entire country
nys-has almost 50% of all deaths in the country

at WH house presser yesterday, DR. BIRX mentioned something i believe was new. in the usa, when you die and if covid 19 is present, it is considered the CAUSE of death. one could have multiple underlying problems, but coronavirus is listed as cause of death.

this would seem to overstate the virus's death toll.

Yes, you are correct. At some point in time, this will all come out.

for lovers of china, more news to defend;

-the virus started there
-they lied and covered up it's severity and transmission
-would not allow other countries to monitor what was happening. they lied about the numbers.
-some countries, including italy, apparently donated medical supplies to china early on. after china began recovering (?), they then SOLD same donated equipment back to italy....nice?
-now, they are shipping faulty equipment. the brits are complaining that none of the 17 million antibody tests are working well. other countries have returned faulty garbage back to china.
-if their equipment is crap, how do we know that the meds that we get from them are also not crap, defective, we don't know.

there have been a number of physicians over the last couple of weeks, that have stated what they are seeing is that patients with current diabetes or are obese are in greater danger than others, without those conditions.

yesterday, at the WH presser, dr. fauci said it appears that black folks are suffering greater severe occurrences than other populations. he mentioned new orleans and detroit.

well, up to now, it seems the left could not find a way to inject race into the virus. now, if it turns out to be true that blacks are more at risk, let's see how the left turns this against trump. of course, they will leave out the obesity and diabetes angle.

The term is comorbidities. Crazy high for POC, as the doctors explained. Controlling as much of my health as I can. I just looked up the McDonalds butter pat: 285 mg cholesterol, a day's worth. I shall henceforth eliminate this from my diet and continue to carve out the 250 mg McMuffin yolk. They run such good deals that I can justify the splurge and excision.

Thought I saw somewhere that when total deaths are tabulated for the first 6 months of this year, they will be lower than last year, when there was no Covid19.
