organ donation

how about a non political discussion.
in the 3 states we have lived in, one had to 'opt in' to be an organ donor, when applying or renewing your drivers license. for years, i have wondered, why isn't it the reverse? in other words, it is still voluntary, but everyone would be an organ donor, unless they 'opt out'.
no idea how many, but there must be tens of thousands of folks who need livers, kidneys, hearts, eyes, etc. what a great gift to give someone life, after you die. let someone else benefit, from something we no longer need.
maybe, there are some with religious beliefs or some other reason not to donate, fine, opt out.
