The age of entitlement

So either I am getting old or maybe I am the sucker (sorry FAA, you do not get a vote).
There is a fire hydrant about 50 feet from my place and a young woman who drives a jeep routinely parks right in front of this hydrant.
Normally, 10 years ago or so, this same violation would have warranted a ticket being placed on the offending vehicle. But not in these times.
I know that the police are stretched thin, they are overworked, there are bigger crimes going on, I get it. But for this woman to just have no regard for the fact that it is still illegal to park in front of a fire hydrant just baffles me.
I have enough respect for the law to not do something like this.

When I was growing up, cars would park from time to time in front of the fire hydrant near my house. The cars usually had New Jersey plates (this was in Brooklyn). My dad would say, the cars belonged to mobsters.

And they probably did especially if it was a Caddy or Lincoln. . By the way, I agree with Ted 100 percent. If I get started on the subject in general, I will for sure be popping another blood pressure pill. Our Country is being destroyed not so slowly from within. A combination of very poor parenting, weak minded people, a total lack of respect for the law, a broken education system, and of course almost no consequences for criminals. Even those with rap sheets longer than a roll of Angel soft.
Speaking of Brooklyn, I miss those couple of times a year trips down there with a buddy just to visit a great deli. Buttery soft roast beef or corned beef piled high on tiny rye bread with great pickles and slaw on the side. Wish zI could remember the name. I guess OTA would recognize it. Not too far from Ebbets Field. My friend would borrow his dad’s brand new 1965 Pontiac Bonneville for the trip. We had to fill up the tank and detail it for his dad when we got back. That was the condition. The gas broke my Megar budget for a month.
but it was worth it.

This is identical to my friend’s dad’s car. 421 cu inch V8. You can see why we went broke on the gas. My friend’s dad was a very well to do local contractor. Really nice and trusting guy. I was 18 at the time. No car of my own yet. Our family car was a 1963 Mercury Comet. Cute stylish little car. Just a slight uptic from the Ford Falcon.

In my city, perhaps other places also, if a fire breaks out and a car is blocking the hydrant, the fire truck driver has authority to push the offending vehicle out of the way. As the car being pushed is normally in Park, I am sure this pretty much destroys the transmission and the tires. Live and learn. Or maybe not.
I once questioned if this was a myth and a firefighter relative told me, no, we actually have an old tire that we placed in front of the fire truck when pushing a car out of the way because "we don't want to scratch the paint on the fire truck." LOL

Ditto!!!! I wish the casino would do that to the people who park in the fire lane or on a corner in a no spot place. Especially when there are plenty of other parking spaces.

But olds, they are ENTITLED to park that way. Just ask them and they'll be sure to let you know how important they truly are.
