Wheel Poker

Post by NJvidpoker »

Hi everyone,

New to the forums.  I play video poker in Atlantic City and have encountered a new video poker game that I cannot find any information about other than an article that I have found online:

http://brokopp.casinocitytimes.com/articles/40694.html

It is called Wheel Poker and I tried it at Trumps Taj Mahal.  I ended up cashing out $250 in a very short period of time, but I can see how this game can drain your bankroll very quickly.  I was playing triple play.  In the game you have to bet 6 coins per line (like the super times pay machines) to qualify for the "bonus wheel." Anytime you get a 4 of a kind, you get a wheel spin which ranges from 100 credits to 2,000 credits.  Playing triple play in the double double bonus game I ended up getting dealt three 6's.  I connected on two 4 of a kinds and got two wheel spins.  I got 400 credits on the 1st one and I got 250 on the 2nd one.  So all in all for the hand I got 650 bonus credits plus the 500 credits for the 2 quads.  Not bad!    Would sure be nice to be dealt quad aces or something and get 3 of those spins!!

The only problem I saw with the game was the payouts for the full houses and the flushes.  The full house payouts were only 7-1 and the flushes were 5-1.  Pretty low for the double double game.  The credits sure dwindle quickly unless your hitting quads.

All of the other payouts in the double double bonus game were the same.

As for the wheel, like I said, it ranges from 100-2,000 credits.  I am not 100% sure of all of the amounts, but I remember seeing about 10 total values in the wheel.  I think 2 of them were 100, 2 of them were 200, and then one each of the following amounts: 250, 400, 600, 800, 1000, and 2000.  Not sure how random the wheel spins are..

If anyone has any information as to payout information on this game, I would really appreciate it.  I am an avid video poker player and came across this site.  The site looks great!  I also love the wheel of fortune slot machines, so if this game is halfway decent, this game is a dream come true!

Thanks!  Sue

From what I've read the payout is just slightly better than a standard DDB game, something like 99.1 for the 9/6 version. In other words, the same base paytable will pay the same. That would make the 8/5 version less than 97%. Best to avoid unless you can find a better paytable.

shadowman,
Thank you for your reply.  This one was a 7/5, so i can imagine the payout must be horrible.  I didn't check the paytables for the other games on the machine (Jacks or Better, Double Bonus, etc..) but I can assume with Double Double Bonus being that bad that the others are bad as well.  Oh well, guess I'll just have to make this game just a once in awhile thing when I am in the "gambling mood."

Just curious as to whether or not you know this or not.. but being the full house payout is so horrible, would it be wise to throw away all full houses and not just ones with aces to try for the quad bonus?

Thanks! Sue

Does the wheel sit on top of the machine? I think I saw this game at the G2E last year?

Not my favorite machine. Won a little. But at triple or 5 play you can go through money fast.

Yes, multi-hand goes much faster. I guess that shouldn't be a surprise.

The few times I've sat down at 100 play, it's been a real rush.  You either get something or you're done FAST. But when you get something, it sure is nice.

The Wheel does sit at the top and spins whenever you get a quad. The average return of the spin comes out to almost exactly the extra number of coins you would spend with the sixth coin. Of course, if you hit a lot of quads quickly and hit the bigger spins you can win big. However, over time it will eat your lunch with such a poor paytable.

I played this at one of our California wig-wams, first deal, got four kings, got to spin the wheel and it landed on the top payout of 2000 coins.  It was fun, but I cashed out because I didn't want it eating my lunch.
