FYI. This hit was by the wife, not me ...
Wonderful!
I guess that means if you don't win a VP.com hat soon then you'll at least be able to buy one.
I've never had a casino check the RNG before paying out a jackpot. Has anyone else had that happen?

Not here and I thought that machine check sounded very unusual. Of course, I never had a $10K win either. A LONG time ago at Bally's, after I had a slot machine hit repeatedly, a technician said I had to leave as he had to service the machine. Others told me since I could have declined that invitation. I could see me getting kicked out of the casino if I refused to move. Frankly, I haven't much played at Bally's since that time! Their loss!

Come to think of it, I had something like that happen once on an old $1 DDB coin dropper with a credits limit of $400. Once after a coin fill they asked me to move to another machine and they shut the first one down. I was told they had a policy of shutting down machines if they had to fill them more than four times in a 24 hour period. I've played machines in that bank many times and have had 3-4 coin fills done numerous times in a session, but that's the one time they shut one down.

You of course assume, CD, that I see any of that coin, much less be given permision to spend it. As for them checking the machine, what I observed when I got there was the tech had taken out a circuit board (about the size of a tablet, about an inch thick) which I assumed held the RNG, examined it, and held it up to the ceiling in order that the security camera could view it. He re-installed it in the machine, and placed a security label over it. He then re-started the machine, and they were allowed to pay off my wife. Maybe New Orleans has a local law/ordinance regarding payouts over a certain level that requires them to check for tampering.

Well, if funds aren't forthcoming immediately, after your next doctor's appointment tell your wife that he gave you a prescription for the cap. Gotta have that medicine, right? That should do the trick.
As you said, there might be a local law requiring the RNG check on $10K pays, or it could simply be casino policy. Maybe they hoped you'd get tired of waiting for the hand pay and leave.

Tangueray caused the old "Electronic Device" to put the RNG through its paces when see hit a Neptune $10 slot for $19,500 at Windsor. It is common practice for large hits to be verified to ensure it wasn't a machine malfunction. Casinos don't give up their wins easily.

So it looks like a machine check might be done for bigger winners - that's understandable. I hope to have a $10K+ winner sometime and see for myself.
