I always thought the 239 coin payout for the quads was to keep the machine below 100%. Some states don't allow 100% games.

I believe another reason is because on a $5 machine a 239 coin 4oak keeps it under $1,200 .Less w2g's for the casinos and players to deal with.

I have mixed feelings about 239 credits...on one hand it is very convinient...but to me, hand pays are part of the fun of video poker...either way $1250 or $1195 means I ve got a nice chunk to play with for a while so I'm usually smiling when they come up...
