Re: Biggest mistake ever?
I often look at the "DATE" on many of the machines I play in AC.I must be missing it. Where is it generally listed?

Switching games may inadvertently be happening if you accidentally push a "hold" button before pushing Deal/draw.
Recently, I was playing on a machine where I tried to use the touch screen to switch games, from DDB to DW.
The touch screen wasn't working, so the only way to switch games was to continually hit one of the "hold" buttons and scroll through every game on the screen in order to reach the DW logo. So, I was hitting the hold button about five times to get from one game to another.
Possibly, if you are not careful where the palm of your hand is (such as resting on the machine), you may have been accidentally hitting the hold button first.
I have run into this malfunction quite often. The scary part is when you have a good hit and the double up feature appears and the touch screen doesn't work. If you hit the wrong hold button, it will go into double up mode and you could lose the hit you just won. The only alternative is to wait for a slot attendant before you answer the double up question. Another time I had to use the hold buttons to try and change games and it dealt max bet of 25 quarters on a game I didn't want. The hand of course was a loser. If the games sit idle too long, they will default to other games too on some machines. If you are not careful, you could easily hold incorrect cards on a game you didn't want.

a couple places at least.....first, some machines in certain casinos have "STICKERS" of various complexity, information and format......these stickers are often from the GAming Comm for that jurisdiction and will display when the machines was manufactured, when it was delivered and when (or the latest) date on which it was last inspected/calibrated and/or "certified".....You can also often find a YEAR of Copyright, or trademark, for many machines like IGT's ubiquitous model(s) ...... something somewhere on the machine will display a "Copyright 2001 by IGT Gaming" line on it, or something like that; Usually its quite small and possibly obscured, but is is there!

This is a fairly common occurrence. As you know we play all over the country and many of the newer machines are rigged to change the game when you exit. It is maddening to hit a nice jackpot like that and find out you are on the wrong game. We always check the pay schedule whenever we exit and return. After you play DDB with Deuces strategy for about 3-4 hands, you know something is wrong. Come to think about it, It wouldn't be too bad if you hit aces w. kicker!

I guess it would be easy to pick up on that you're playing the wrong game if you normally play Deuces. It would have been easy for me to catch if I had been paying attention to the credits when I hit something like 2 pair but I don't, I concentrate so hard on the cards in front of me I don't notice anything until I hit a nice hand. Now if I had been playing J Or B and the game had somehow switched to DDB when I hit I would be a happy camper.

I am very deliberate in hitting No and cashing out. If the screen didn't work at all, I'd have to call a tech. But as long as you do not venture near the Yes box, you should be fine.

DB, that relics reference cracks me up. The Taj relics are truly dreadful, no question. Resorts look just as ancient. Bally's is also in the City Dive running after the Atlantic Club, Showboat and Trump Plaza shuttered. They've got some relics too, especially those crazy uncomfortable uprights. Not only did I lose, I had to stiff arm it on each spin. Do pick a machine that lets you rest your forearms and bend your elbows. I just couldn't find any user friendly 9/6s.

Sometimes, I wonder why casinos can't just fix the known malfunctions. I have pointed out sticky buttons, malfunctioning touch screens, and so on to nearby slot attendants. Response: shrug of the shoulders. It is almost as if it is not in their best interests to keep machines in good working order. Sadly, I have sometimes played a bit too quickly, thought that I had firmly pushed the "hold" button on a hand, only to discover after deal/draw that the card had not actually been held by me.

A couple weeks ago I hit the bet 2 button instead of the hold button by mistake. I had three aces on ten play STP. That wiped out the hand and started a new one. WTH!!??!! GRRRI got up off that machine at that moment.Fundad
