Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. If someone seems obviously uncomfortable with you watching them play, have some manners and walk away.

Yep...

For those who don't know it; the original poster sent this out with me in mind. Ouch...
There you have it folks, another episode of the world (or forum) revolves around Ted......if you honestly believed what you wrote Ted, you'd have put a lot more into your non-reply.     You'll know it when I want to address you directly......but hey, if the shoe fits......I can totally see you calling security to complain that someone is "watching you".....On my next to last trip to AC, in ballys, on one of the Progressives that dot the casino floor now, I casually wheeld by a woman playing TDB (even with the horrible paytable, she apparently was taken in by the progressive, which was not that high).....I just nonchalantly and real-friendly like said to her  "Having any luck?"  as is my custom when wandering the floor killing a few minutes before dinner, or Poker, or whatever.....Well, this lady was one of those people who clearly do NOT have FUN in the casino, as she flat out said "Don't talk to me, ok?" only she said it with as much latent hostility as a 50 something, frail lady who has smoked way too many cigarettes can muster.....Taken aback for a brief moment, I of course said, "fine, sorry.....still, I wish you goo d luck"    Well....BOOM!    getting in that last "wish" apparently was the straw that broke her skinny camel's backside, because she immediately (in a huff) slams the cashout button, grabs her cigarettes and purse and storms off.I giggled and moved on......but still, I had no INTENTION of ruining this woman's time (no clue who she was), but given her total demeanor and actions, I say  GOOD.

why should one be forced to call security, when it is just common courtesy to let someone have their own space.  there are plenty of unfriendly folks in casinos and everywhere else who are not smokers.

I have almost no bad experiences with someone watching me play as long as they don't ask too many questions. That is because I am constantly doing some math in my head regarding the Martingale clone method that I often play by and have to concentrate on that. I do have one exception though about people asking questions and may have even posted about it sometime last year or so.
I was playing in an area where the mall and casino converge and where lots of people wait to meet up with their friends. That is the only place I can play this particular Double Down Stud machine. The clubs had just closed for the evening and two drop dead gorgeous gals all dressed up for Little Black Dress night were waiting right next to me for their friends. One asked me how to play poker and of course I was more than happy to slow down my play and explain things to her and her friend. They both had more than a few I am sure, but were very nice and very, very, freindly. The next thing I knew, their other 3 friends showed up also in Little Black Dresses and they all ended up hanging out with me and the machine for the next 15 or 20 minutes. The bar had closed, but my waitress just happened to come by and I got them all Cappuccinos with whipped cream. Needless to say, I forgot all about the math I had been doing in my head and I am sure I made more than a few errors in my play.

We will hang out at times by a bank of machines that we want to play waiting/looking for a seat to open up. Does that count as watching folks play? As for folks watching us under similar circumstances, usually not an issue.

Years ago when I was in my 30's, I would get stopped on the street because some people thought I was Neil Diamond. Nowdays, I could pass for Danny Devito's brother, but I must have kept that gift of gab because the ladies seem to still like to stop and BS with me.

Speaking of which, if anyone makes it up to Mohegan Sun while we still have such beautiful weather, let me know. Always good to take a break from play and catch up on things with our posting buddies. Also at least for the next month or so I will still have lounge access to grab a bite or drink. My schedule with the folks is still hectic, but here and there I can still make some arrangements to get away for a few hours.

As I've said before; when someone is standing behind me watching me play, I shut it down. I don't want (or need) someone standing behind me watching me play because I find it distracting.
