Here ya go.

And I'm sorry you've had this run in the last few years, koking. If I had the same run over that sample, I would question if they were doing something to alter the machines too. Laws can always still be broken.

money and power will cause some people to do most anything. why would VW intentionally 'rig' their emission control computer system? how could this fraud go on for so many years? could they not just raise the price of the cars to cover the required expense? why would they risk having their stock price drop more than 1/3, cost the company billions, tarnish the brand name, risk losing their jobs, and maybe, some will go to jail? isn't the auto industry more regulated than the casino industry? there were mutiple people involved, how could it be kept a secret for so long, wouldn't somebody spill the beans?  why would the world's largest auto company do this? why would obama and clinton tell the world for 10 days after the benghazi murders that is was likely caused by an obscure video? why would clinton do this while telling her family it was a terror attack? how can one believe that casinos, in all jurisdictions, are immune from some form of illegal activity? most any product or service one buys, the consumer can take it home, tear it apart, test it out. there are independent companies, such as consumer reports, that test products to make sure they perform as advertised. but, no independent 3rd party can just waltz into a casino, test it, take it home and check it out. the casino consumer is left to trust state regulators and in some locations, i am not sure if there are any.   there is an endless list of things people/companies/governments do that are wrong, but hope to get away with it. so,maybe the folks who should be wearing the tinfoil hats, are the ones who believe every casino is on the up and up.  LOL.

notes someone at VW thought they could get away with it and they got caught so now they must pay the price.

The same would hold true for a casino that was caught cheating, they must then pay the price.

I for one will continue to believe that video poker in casinos is on the up and up and for the time being I will not be fitting myself for a tinfoil hat.

Ted, I'm sitting here trying to think of any industry that is on the complete "up and up", I'm drawing a blank can you help me out? It's probably been about 6-8 months ago, maybe longer, that I made the drive to play a little vp at one of our local small market casinos. I was surprised to see every single vp machine in the casino shut down, no one knew why, but they did say they hoped to have them back open very soon. A month or so later I returned to the casino and the vp machines were up and running again, no change in pay tables or the games as far as I could tell. I was sitting at the bar and hit a hand pay right off the bat but there was a problem with the machine and my players card, after a while the slot attendant gave up and called a machine tech. Turns out I knew the guy and when I inquired as to why the machines were shut down a few weeks ago, he said he wasn't sure but fines were involved and also added that I didn't hear that from him, didn't hear about it or read about from anyone else either. This particular casino is the smallest and least attended casino in our area, I only went there because I could get a cheap room when working in that area, not because I was fan of their vp even though they had some of the highest advertised pay tables to be found around these parts. The casinos in these parts chose to open up in one of the poorest counties in the entire nation, they were desperate for anything and I promise you they don't want to lose the ONLY thing they have going for them. In 23 years I've only heard about one incident involving the actual rigging of machines in this area and it was only on one type of machine, it was obvious also, any one who had ever played those machines knew it was happening and it took years for them to be shut down and cited. Everything I perceive to be happening is so subtle and less frequent or knowledgeable players probably wouldn't even notice there may be a problem. Like I said before I played for 18 years and never even questioned the game, had great respect for how pure I thought it to be. It's taken some bad vp and horrible numbers that don't add up for me to reach the point I now find myself to be. I'm now sitting at around 60K hands of $1 TDB and DDB without one single hand pay, by far the majority of these hands were 9/6 TDB and the rest was 9/6 DDB, that's some bad vp. I'm hitting the standard quads like clockwork, never missing a beat on them, but somehow the bigger hands are just not popping. Is it just me, hard to tell because very few others have the nerve to try anymore, no doubt they quit because they trusted the games so much. No need to for me to get fitted for a tinfoil hat because I've got one that's fits very well and I paid dearly for the thing.

Until we are presented with proof, VW is a perfect example, we as purchasers or users of a service must have faith that whatever company we are buying from is on the up and up.

If we do not have faith then we have the option to buy elsewhere.

When a whole industry is targeted as not being on the up and up then there is a bigger problem.

k.o. king I can only assume that your example was one of a casino getting caught with a machine that had been tampered with and they were all impounded and tested for accuracy.

Like Fox Mulder from X-Files, "I believe" that video poker is on the up and up. If I had any doubt about a particular casino then I simply would not play there. If I had any doubt about the honesty about video poker as a whole then I would take up a different game of chance all together.

I have been playing video poker for almost 30 years and I have seen the ups and downs of the game over this period of time. I am comfortable knowing that video poker play is a long term investment and I also choose to be the master of my domain when it comes to me playing video poker. I do this through loss controls and discipline when winning.

as you have said to your nemisis on this site, thanks for stating the obvious. ted, not only do you have a right to your opinion, but i welcome different points of view. but, all too often, this site is being taken over by math nerds and cult followers of the vegas pro. no one can answer all the questions i asked in my post about why VW or the current adminstration would think they could get away with their misdeeds, but they did it anyway. nearly everyday, something is revealed about some person/business/government that leaves one shaking their head, why would they do such a thing and how did they expect to get away with it? it just seems logical that this same kind of thinking could exist within a particular casino. remember, money and power. the arguements i have been told about why casinos would not cheat is, #1- they do not need to, they can just lower their paytables. couldn't VW just increase the price of their cars to cover the cost of properly fixing the problem? #2-casinos would not risk losing their license. well, maybe VW will not lose it's ability to make/sell cars, but the cost has been in the billions. ted, correct me if i am wrong, but after reading many of your posts, i do not think you adhere to all the preachings of the math community. i believe you play the best odds you can, but it is more important, to play the games you like, such as TDB. you have stated that you have an amazing session win percentage, but one of those math folks pointed out that a postive session winning percentage does not translate to an overall net positive result. just be careful who you align yourself with, they will attack you next. i do not believe anyone on this site is stating all casinos are corrupt, not even the majority. they are simply stating that they have seen their results change, in a negative fashion, that cannot be explained by reduced paytables. i just completed my most recent trip to cherokee and may not make it back there again, before the end of the year. if this is the case, for the first time in about 8 years, i will end net positive for the years. and, this is on some of the worst paytables around. luck! sorry for the long winded post.

I'm leaving all plastic home tmrw to avoid all temptation.. Yesterday was a wake up call. -$80 VP, -$40 craps. Patronizing 8/5 JOB in an upscale lounge was a complete dope move.

notes, I do not always adhere to the math when playing video poker nor do I let my play be dictated by influence from outside sources such as "the vegas pro." I play video poker the way I want to play it and entertainment is foremost for me. If I win when playing then it is more enjoyable but if I lose, then so be it because I walked into a casino with a certain amount of money that was disposable either way.

I do not cave to peer pressure and I play the video poker games that I like to play, when I want to play them. Some people play JOB for the sole reason of trying to grind out a, usually small, profit. The way to get around this is to (obviously) play higher denominations but playing JOB is just not the game for me. Because I am so used to playing TDB or DDB at a minimum, I would absolutely cringe if I looked up at AWAK when playing JOB.

As for my win percentage, I attribute it to me stopping play when I feel comfortable. If I manage to hit for a nice win I will then set a loss limit and adhere to it. Because I said earlier that I walk into a casino expecting to lose whatever money I walked in with does not mean that I am foolish or reckless with money. If I hit for $2,000.00 I may set a loss limit of $500.00 and walk out up $1,500.00. I will then put that $1,500.00 to good use and it could be something from upgrading a home appliance to putting it toward a new car. I hope that everyone has this same philosophy but I can't control what people do.

If I feel that something is amiss in a casino I do not play there. If I feel that I am not getting a good deal in a store that I patronize then I shop elsewhere. I have walked out of stores and car dealerships before and I will not be afraid to continue to do so in the future.

Getting back to casinos. If a person thinks that even 1 casino is corrupt then this may plant the seed in their head that ALL casinos are corrupt. That line of thinking makes no sense to me. Just because I think that 1 politician may be corrupt I do not think that ALL politicians are corrupt. That is: until they are proven to be corrupt. Being a resident of Illinois I think I may know a thing or two about corrupt politicians.

Yes, we are all entitled to our opinions and mine continues to be that I do not think there is something amiss with video poker in casinos. If I did, then I simply wouldn't play there.

Once before I asked a player here who made a comment about video poker being amiss because they were not winning. This same player stated that they had, in the past, enjoyed several years of great play. I asked why they would think something was wrong when they were losing but why didn't they think something was amiss when they were hitting royals on a more regular basis than the math says they should be hitting?

To each their own.
