Re: My Journey on Video Poker
I find it funny that you find October a bad month for you. I also
looked back at my records the last three years and found the same thing. Bad omen. I better tread lightly for awhile. A wild guess is that it's a low travel month. Dormant machines are less apt to pay out big.

Yesterday, I was in a conversation with a casino management type in Laughlin. I mentioned the discussion on this thread about getting out of the casino with your winnings. In addition to the two suggestions I made earlier in the thread, this casino management type offered this suggestion: When the attendant starts to leave you to go get your handpay, tell her or him that you want to be escorted to your car for security reasons. At many casinos (not all) they will have a security officer waiting with you for your handpay or one will arrive shortly. It is basic human behavior that once you request the escort and the escort is pulled away from what he is doing to assist you, that the player will get up and leave with the security officer. This system, the casino management type told me, seems to work very well, especially as security officers who escort winners will wait with them at their car until they actually leave. Disclaimer: not every casino can immediately provide a security escort, so you may have to wait, which tempts your discipline. Also, if you valet park, the casino may decline to provide an escort. I know that at one casino in another state (not in Laughlin) where I won a sizable handpay and desired an escort to my car, they offered to follow me remotely via security cameras, rather than with an actual officer. But all in all, the suggestion makes sense and is worth trying.

-400... .25c fpwd...Funny this discussion about leaving while up came up on the thread, because it could of made a great case tonight for me. My opinion still is that as long as one keeps playing vp, it doesn't matter when you leave. It's all a long string of RNG code. I leave when I'm tired, my bankroll is gone, I hit my goal, whatever it is. But I don't really base it on a hot or cold machine, or a recent big hit. Although I usually don't stick around too long if I hit a royal. But sometimes I do play a bit longer. At any rate, was at one time up almost 100 bucks tonight, did hit a quad deuce, but kept playing. And kept missing and missing and missing. Until found myself down $400. Unfortunate, but the cookie crumbles that way sometimes. If I left, would it of made a difference? Maybe, maybe not. After all, I plan to play the same game again and again. It smarts but there has been times when I hit the late royal and got it back and then some. One never knows. Having said all that, it still stings a bit... esp. that I hit a quad deuce and still managed to create a nice losing session out of it. Well, tomorrow is another day.Cheers

+100... .25c FPDW...Caught a quad deuce on the redraw. Got down from plus 230$ to plus 100$ and decided to call it after deja vu from last sessions downfall. My work has picked up lately and my wife has been having health issues, so haven't been playing as much. This might be the case for a while, might not, will just have to take it by ear.Cheers

Awesome, you seem to play enough to average one of those quad deuces per trip!

-300... .25c fpdw...This one was a bit frustrating because once again I had a strong beginning then went south, and had two 4 aces with kickers and two natural straight flushes and probably another 6 natural quads, but playing the wrong game to get much for them. Hard to get those out of your head and remember it's a different game, different animal. At any rate, no deuces this time, the royal still evading me. The good news is...October is almost over and I can try to get past this month and concentrate on November... Tomorrow is another day.Cheers

DAAnMAAn I tried calculating your October play through your posts. Did you lose $1,000.00 at the beginning of October? If yes, then I show you as being -$919.50 for the month. If you didn't lose the 1K then I showed you as being $80.50 to the good. When you started the thread it was in September and you had posted some wins and loses during that time. Your September posts showed you as being up $1,644.25.This may be the reason why you lost $1,000.00at the beginning of October. Are my calculations relatively accurate?

This is a great partnership. DM can entertain us with his reports and Ted can keep score for us all in this thread's peanut gallery!
