Re: Two Royals
Usually a quarter player, one day decided to try my luck on $1
9/6 JOB. About 30 min in, I hit a royal holding 3 cards. I was amazed, my first $1 play royal ever, $4000. Was going to leave but the guy said I should play a bit longer. So I played a bit longer and was about to leave when the machine locked up. I thought I broke it, but nope, was dealt a royal flush for another $4k. Was pretty amazing stuff. Same machine btw.

Dan, what was your bankroll on your dollar play day? I am a quarter player, but I want to try the next rung too. That was a quick $8,000 for you.

FAAHow are you making out overall on quarter play? How are the pay tables where you play? Just curious.

Can't complain. Full pay land, rare losing trips. I would clearly bust at quarter play on my roll, so I'd have to greatly increase risk exposure.

Sounds like you really enjoy the VP and so do I. To this day I play all levels of VP from 5 cents to dollar. I have played a bit higher but the fun goes out of the game do to the pressure of losing to much. The first time I decided to play strictly dollars in Vegas on a trip I got my butt kicked. So since then I play at all levels. Ya hitting a 4oak in nickels is not as exciting as higher denominations but I just enjoy playing. Quarter is where I play most but go up and down depending how I am doind and pay tables. At Bolder Station I can play full pay in nickels right up to dollars on the same machine. Perfect for me.
You two have me itching to launch dollar play! Beyond green with envy.
Before you charge off with dollar signs in your eyes, here's the rest of the story. After I hit the four royals, I started going back to Biloxi on a regular basis. I stuck with $1 Jacks and managed to give it all back within 3-4 months. I was taking $3,000 with me on each 4 day trip and lost it all more than once. To survive long term at the dollar level even if you can play 9/6 Jacks requires a bankroll of at least $20K. You need to be comfortable with regular loses in the 10K or even higher level if you hit a long bad streak. These days I only play $1s if I'm doing exceptionally well and I quit if I hit a decent jackpot. That's one of the reasons I like to play Deuces because a $1,000 quad deuce jackpot is a good payday for me. I don't see anything wrong with giving it a try once in a while just for fun and you may get lucky.

Thanks for a more detailed account of your plunge down the parabola of fate. "Exceptionally well" should be my cue as well. I should be up at least $90 before I venture ever so briefly for an out the door score. Slammed for ten hands? Still Winnerland.

Last month I met AZ Barb while in LV. We drove out with her friend and my former (nuff said) to Laughlin. She hit a RF within the first 8 hands and then less than 10 minutes later hit a 2nd time!!
