Re: My Journey on Video Poker
don't use your card in optimum play games! It's too
late for me, flagged for a long time
now. Don't make the mistakes I have made
in the past. Anyway...I still get some goodies like VIP parking, 4x
points on sub-optimum games like BP, 8/6 BP deluxe, or
ugly deuces, and such. But the mailers and free play? Haven't seen
those for quite some time.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You're probably right. Such play is rewarded more with flags than comp opportunities. But, I'm too addicted to the high return bank. Plus, it helps me figure out how much coin in I have when I finally hit my quad. If below $450, I have usually made a small profit. Beyond that, I am casino's beach.

Sounds like you went off your well thought out path in order to chase a few flyers. In your opinion, are the flyers worth the potential losses?

Sucks to hear you got "no mailed". That's fairly common with Stations I hear. I wouldn't recommend someone using their card in the positive games if they also plan to play negative games as well. The tiny accrual rate isn't worth it. Anyone with decent CET comps shouldn't put their card in on the full pay games at Cromwell either.

June 11, 2016...Chip and a chair...or there is always hope with a spinTonight was an interesting one. Was able to get off of work early which is some miracle considering the busyness of the poker rooms right now. So decided to take a nice roll, $600, and play some VP with a hope that I'll only use $200 of it. So I decide to play my full pay deuces wild, figuring it owes me a decent session. Wrong...In about 75 minutes my $200 went in the machines nether regions and the 100.76% ER can go suck an egg! Yes, I was, let's say, not happy with the fpdw gods. But what else is new.So not being in a good state of mind, I did what any quarter VP player would do, played $1 single line 8/5 bonus poker lol. Actually there is a reason for this. Its the best game to play with max points and multipliers, at least at this casino. And I need to get about 15,000 points before June 30th to keep my prestigious headliner status...which just recently paid off with a comped $250 private pool cabana. Makes the wife happy, which makes life happy.Anyway, this is what happened. Things weren't going well on the $1 bonus poker either. And got down to virtually the last couple of spins. I was going to quit at $30 bucks and just accept my doomed fate with the VP gods, but thought what's the point at this stage of the game...might as well just play it off and be done with it....when, boom, hit 4 deuces (of course), $200, and hovered there for a bit...then boom, hit 4 threes, $200, and hovered around 350-400 for a while...and then a finally boom, hit a heart straight flush for $250...and ended up at $605 as one can see in the picture. Made $5 bucks for the night, and got the hell out of there! Another potential negative night adverted by the powers that be. I guess it just goes to show that you can't count yourself out until your out of spins. Luck (slop in 9-ball speak) counts, and I'll take it...on to the next. Cheers...and yes, I think I should of made my points with tonight's session. But will have to wait and see. At any rate, should be close enough that any game now should get me to where I need to be.
So not being in a good state of mind, I did what any quarter VP player would do, played $1 single line 8/5 bonus poker lol.
Taking a limited shot at the dollar machines has pulled me out more times than I can remember. As long as you keep it to a few bucks and run like heck when you hit a good one, I don't see the harm. However, chasing your losses by moving up to dollars and staying there is guaranteed to put a hurting on your bankroll. Been there, done that...

I have been pretty lucky with Straight Flush frequency over the past twelve months. Always a welcome sight! Of course with me it's 250 quarters.

Riding the Ac$s Bonus, finally crash $ burn
It ultimately got me, but it's a fun game I enjoy and haven't played it in a long time. Basically it's an 8/5 bonus poker game except if you get quad aced in a certain order that spells ACE$ in first or second position, you get 4,000 coins (same as a royal). Ups the typical 8/5 bonus poker ER to around 99.5%. Played at .25c single line denomination, at one point up $50 bucks, but after a few dry spells ended up down$200. Not sure if I'm going to keep playing this game, for I can actually do better playing full bonus poker on the machines that give full points and multipliers (ac$s
Bonus is on those optimum play machines,
Meaning you get crumbs for your play).
I did make my points to keep my headliner status, which is good.
So, in the spirit of adventure, going full circle and heading back to the roller coaster game that started this journey, .25c 10/6 DDB single line with slow Royal prog. Meter...
Cheers

June 15, 2016A little of this, a little of that....Tonight (around 3:30 am) went to my bank of machines I haven't gone to in a while, the .25c progressive 10/6 DDB single line. Royal today was at $1,080.00. Didn't hit that of course. Don't think I can hit royals anymore, which is one of the reasons I went back to this game, I figured at least I can still hit quads with kickers. Fortunately, I did this quick session.I had two hours to play. 30 minutes of it was spent on 10/6 ddb because I hit 2222A for $200 and another quad 10's, up $240 bucks, and decided to go play something else. My primary goal was to win back the $200 I lost playing AC$S Bonus, which i have done. So went off to play a quarter progressive .25c single line 7/5 bonus poker game I play when I want to unwind, not stress too much, earn some points, and so forth. Not a great game, but the royal is progressive, the 4 aces, and the quad 2,3, or 4 is progressive. Sometimes they can be kind of high, sometimes not so high. I guess the royal was just hit, because that was very low. But the 4 aces was at about $130 which I thought was decent. Surprisingly to me, I hit it. I posted a pic below. Then I still had about 45 minutes to kill so thought I'd take a hundred to .25c 9/6 jacks or better, where it ate it in a bad session. So ended up around +240 for this session. Can't be too upset about that. I might go back and play some nsud next session, but reserve the right to change my mind. Cheers

45 minutes to kill so thought I'd take a hundred to .25c 9/6 JOB, where it ate it in a bad session.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This sounded like a great plan. You would ideally tread water for 45 minutes, and there is always that RF chance. I lost $50 in an hour on a bad session on Sunday. This for me is brutal. I bounced to two other machines, where I only lost $12 in the subsequent hour. It's never a good session for me w low Progressive!

KO'd by Full Pay Deuces Wild...Nothing to see here, move along
Really getting tired of getting manhandled by the fpdw...supposedly
the best video poker quarter game in the house. Just beating me up time
after time. -$200. Really not much to add, pretty uneventful. May switch games for a while just to keep it fresh and let the sting wear off for a bit. Sort of like 10/6 DDB when I was running cold
and had to get away from it until the sting wore off, and felt fine
playing it yesterday. So tomorrow is another day. Like Rocky, you have
to take the hits and get back up and keep fighting the good fight.
Cheers
