Re: My Journey on Video Poker
Deuces Wild can be a stern taskmaster. However, it does seem to turn around with some regularity. On a bad day I can run through 1,000 coins before the sun comes out. For this reason I've upped my daily bankroll to 2,000 coins and it seems to work better for me. There are those days when 2,000 coins disappears too, but thankfully they are rare. If I play DDB, I know exactly what going to happen... the reverse ATM. You are pointing out what I have been saying for a long time, odds don't have any affect on your results on any one particular day. Good odds let you play longer, but they do not make jackpots appear more often. On our last trip to Reno we were able to play NSU for a week. On bad days we lost just as much as with 98.9% deuces. I've never been able to play FP Deuces, but I expect things will be about the same. Actually, they may seem worse because I will expect to win every time.

Revisiting the roller coaster 10/6 DDB .25c single line
Tonight saw the prog was close to $1,099 for the royal so had about 2 hours and decided to do battle. Had a positive outcome, +200, not because of the Royal but because of a hefty amount of quads. Two 10's, 2's(flopped, no kicker), queens, jacks, 4's (no kicker), and 3's with kicker. Well, when the roller coaster isn't a ride of hell, it's fun for sure.
As for playing deuces, Phil, you are on point. Hitting the jackpot hands doesn't care if a four of a kind pays 20 or 25, just makes the ride last a little longer on the deuce train. Anyway, just taking a breather of deuces before riding that deuce train again and hopefully drop some deuces on it finally. (Hey, stop chuckling)....But DDB train is doing Allright thus far. Might continue to ride that until it gets hellish which it inevitably does.
Cheers

June 19th, 2016Father's Day X6 point timeJumped on the .50c single line 8/5 BP to earn max points and multipliers today. Would of been happy to break even, but ended up ahead +$100. Hit two quad aces and not much else exciting. But earned almost $50 dollars in points. Very nice father's day gift and it's not going to break the bank, but a nice win for about 3 hours play regardless.Cheers, pics of the aces below just to pic something. PS Royal Flush still avoids me.

June 20, 2016A Quick 10/6 DDB quarter single line sessionHad less than an hour, but wanted to get on my usual bank of 10/6 single line quarter DDB machines with a royal progressive at $1118.00. I really try to hit this machine when the royal is anywhere from $1100 to $1199. Just shy of the w2g form. But didn't have much time and didn't hit it. Hopefully it will still be going tomorrow. Meter is so slow it will probably still take a few days for it to get to $1199 anyway. At any rate, hit a quad 4 no kicker right away, then nothing for a while, then hit quad Queens, then nothing for a while, then flopped quad deuces with a kicker, and stopped up +$55.I will definitely try to get some more time in tomorrow night and try to take it home. My work is still busy. Cheers,

June 22, 2016Almost doesn't count...Had about 2 hours more of less to grind some out on 10/6 DDB quarter single line play. Unfortunately, the progressive was hit and was back down to $1001.25. Last time I saw it about 40 hours ago it was at $1118.00. At any rate, it was one of those sessions were I was flopping everything except a hand. Can't count the number of flops with 3 aces and 3 fours. Must of been at least 20 each. But nothing. twice flopped 4 to a royal, nada. Was one of those days. Hit one quad 6 and one quad jacks which wasn't enough.DDB gets it's revenge as it takes back -$450 dollars. After this loss, I'm at +26 dollars for the month lol. I guess it could be worse, by why can't it be better. But that's the risk I accept when I jump back on the roller coaster ride of DDB or TDB...Might be time to get off the coaster for a bit and catch my breath.Cheers

You made a buck a day! Everything okay! Wins don't grow on trees, you brought VP to its knees.

Video Poker...it will humble you, guaranteed!
When one talks to friends or family about video poker, they usually hear about the stories about how they hit that
Lucky Royal, or hit several quads in a row, or had 10 or more winning sessions. But...usually you don't hear about the losses, the days when they played a session and didn't even get a full house,
Or the quarter players who lost a grand or more in a day when the vp gods were wrathful, or the $1 JOB player who is down 6k and puts in another 1k to try to hit a 4K Royal to make back some loss...
The best answers are the few honest ones when they give you the good and the bad, a sum of how they are doing overall...whether it's month to month, or year to year, or however they measure their long term results.
I measure month to month. Is this perfect? No. A true measure is a lifetime of play. But at some point, we have to see how the business is doing and make adjustments. I took a good loss tonight, at least by my measures and bankroll, -700$. .50c nsud -400 and $1
9/6 JOB -300$. It puts me at around -673 for the month. It's not a crazy unusual loss considering the denominations, but one nevertheless.
It's time to make adjustments, and correct poor decisions. One of which is,
Going against my earlier rule of not taking pot shots at higher denominations without first a big score at a lower one. So it's back to quarters only until something major hits, and then take a portion at the pot shot. Not to make a mountain out of a molehill, losses will happen in this game. But I think it's important after a few L sessions to step back and analyze the situation before the hole gets deeper.
Cheers

June 24th, 2016Still going down the rabbit hole...Should of been a good night, but wasn't. Hit a nice number of quads. Played .25c BP 8/5. Decided it's time to earn some points. Hit two quad 4's, a quad 2, and some others, but just couldn't close the deal. Down -200$. Needs to get better soon. And not hitting a royal for almost 4 royal cycles is definitely taking a toll. But like Rocky, it's not about getting punched or getting knocked down, it's about not giving up the fight. I'm not ready to give up, but this month is not closing on a high note for sure unless the vp gods decide to be merciful. Cheers.

That's just the normal ups and downs of VP. These games only pay 99-100% payback, one month you can be up 2k the next lose 2k and that is 100% payback folks. Now if the free play comes in at a nice amount your in the money. But make a living one would have to play at least $5 machines with them high pay tables to ek out a living. Plus your bankroll would have to be huge. Now most of us don't have that kinda bankroll and if some of us do we are not willing to risk it and this game we love to hate!

I have the same aggressive stance toward $1,100 plus Progressives. By all means, try to seize that bonus before the competition! Mine was $1,127 today. First time I saw +$100 in ages. I even had a PM session to pursue it. No success, but I did finally hit a quad to break even on the day and therefore save stress and angst. It is downright shameful to come home a loser on 99.54% gambling, I have come to conclude. Craps helped me out. I lost $18 of the $25 I had won, so I was determined to recoup the loss at the casino's expense.
