Re: My Journey on Video Poker
PPP, I assume the yellow flag was directed at me. Point taken. I'm not getting into a good money after bad session ever again. Dan is really soaring over the mean result. He must get on a lot of busy LV machines with hot cycles at the ready.
No sir, not directed towards you in any way. I consider you to be a very frugal player who plays within your means - emotionally and financially.
I felt the need to mention what I said to anyone who might think that good games with good strategy equals consistent (even daily) profits. Besides the regular posters, I bet we have many lurkers and casual readers.
Without a doubt, Dan is having a great run.

PPP, I went off script in September with three -$200 days, or what Dan would call a speed bump. Forever chastened.

Felt like playing triple play deuces again tonight for a quicky and that's what I did. 1680 session points, $1 coin-in equals one point, therefore about 448 spins (1,344 hands) into it hit a quad deuce and decided to cash out +$102.50.
I'm actually not too far from legend status. Currently I'm headliner (100-274,999 tier credits) my actual tier credit right be is 102,466. I have till Dec. 31st to make legend which is 275k tier credits. Video poker is $1=1 credit (not on optimum play games). So.....275k minus 102,466 is 172,534 tier credits away.
Hym...that means I need $172,534 coin in by the end of December. That's 46,009 spins of triple play quarter deuces. I'm playing this game a lot slower than single line fpdw, about 800 hands an hour I think. Assuming this, it's going to take me about 57.5 hours of play to get it.
Problem is, this is not a 100% game. It's a 98.99% ER game, however I get full points and multipliers with it so with cash back its about a 99.5% game. So I'm losing .50c per hundred coin in theoretically. So how much will this cost me? About $862. Worth it? If we take advantage of all the perks, looks like a break even scenario. But cool to be legend at aliante. Don't know, Will think about it for a bit.
Cheers and go hit some quads!

So the vp gods will still refuse me a loss, even though I really tried tonight. Played .25c triple play deuces with a session br of $500. Went all the way down to $30 bucks and about 25 min left to play, then finally hit a quad deuce, followed 5 min later with another quad deuce. Up +$23.75 the session. Could of easily been -$500. Eventually there will be a loss I promise, but it's the long term I'm concerned with.
At any rate, going to keep at it as long as it's going well and see if I can make legend status. If it starts going to the tank, I'll probably get off it. We will just have to see what develops.
Cheers and on to the next...

You did raise BR from the usual $400, at which point you were toast.

Still Onward and upward...
Played the .25c triple play "ugly" deuces. About 1,232 spins or $4000 coin in. Hit a quad deuce while down $250 which brought me even. Then hovered there for a long time before dropping down a hundred; however, at the end hit a nice run of royals with deuce which brought me up to cash out up +$123.25.
Although this game is not as good as fpdw and not as good as nsud, still good and the low variance of deuces wild helps me stay in the game and not get any heart palpitations...which is good. But the nicest part is I'm finally starting to earn comps and points for my play and in a relatively short period of time racked up about $50 in points.
Something that would take a long, long time playing fpdw or nsud, at least here. At any rate, calling it a night (morning, it's about 5:45 am in Vegas) and live to fight another day.
Cheers and hit lots of quads!

VP gods finally get some back
Played .25c triple play deuces. About 5,200 hands or 1,730 spins...nada mucho...-$550. One time flopped 3 deuces, no 4th, one time flopped 4 to a Royal, no Royal. So just a slow grind to zero.
This happens. Which is why one can't get too excited or put too much into the wins or losses, there is never one without the other. Thinking long term is key.
Am I upset? No, I had a great run and enjoyed it, but tried to keep an even head about it. Am I disappointed? Well, of course I wish I could of done better, but still up for the month, it's only November 5th, and after this tithe to the vp gods, still up about +$540 for Nov.
So the only thing is onward and forward to the next session where who knows what might happen or might not.
Cheers and hit some quads!

Long battle with the vp gods tonight.
The extra variance of playing triple play is becoming apparent as we take another loss tonight on .25c triple play deuces. It was about a 4 hr battle seeing three quad deuces during the duration.
The problem was just not seeing much else.
Started with a bankroll of $500...Almost immediately was down $350 when I hit a quad deuce, back down again then hit another, back down again and hit one more, than just down. So tithed another -$500 which brings me to -$7 dollars for the month thus far.
On the plus side I'm making a ton of points and comps,
But at what point does the variance become to much for me it remains to be seen.
All I can do at this point is just keep punching and jabbing until I win the fight or throw in the flag. The next session or two will be key to determine if I continue on triple play or go back to the optimum play games.
Cheers and hit lots of quads.

Thanks for yet another reason to avoid Triple Slay! Those were three expensive quads.
