Congratulations! There was a time when I believed hitting a straight flush was a harbinger of good things to come. I have since learned this is not always the case. Every hand is independent of the others. We remember the good times and forget the bad. That's why we believe in luck.

Recently Bill Ryan posted the following.

"Did I hit a Royal because its my lucky day or is it my lucky day because I hit a Royal?"

I love this quote. This sums it up pretty good I think.

Video poker is so weird. Your brain tells you there are no streaks, then you hit a wild royal for 125 coins followed by 20 hands without a single win. It's like the casino is messing with your brain.

I once was playing VP next to a mother and daughter when they hit a straight flush. I told them it was good luck and they may hit something else good. Sure enough, a dozen hands later 4 aces with a kicker appeared. I watched them hit quad after quad until they finally left when the game cooled off.

Another time I was playing next to a tiny oriental lady. We were both playing DDB. Her machine was so hot she turned to me and said "We can't lose!". I hit a straight flush and my machine took off too. She must have hit 4-5 quads in about 2 minutes when she hit 4 aces with a kicker and left. I moved over to her seat and switched to dollars. A minute later I was dealt a $4,000 royal. Later that day I hit three more dollar quad aces. I guess she was right after all.

Did the straight flush predict those quads? I don't believe so, but we didn't give the money back.

Love it when they hit! Just wish it happened more often LOL!

I have been dealt five royals in my lifetime. Play enough hands and it happens.

I respectfully disagree. It is supposed to happen mathmatically but it isn't guaranteed.
