I have had a many incidences where I have had an attendant save a machine I was playing for a meal break... My wife and I were talking about this the other day and she said that every time we do that the machine dies.  I never thought about it one way or the other because I will always dump more into a machine that has been good to me.  This prompts me to my question.  What are your experiences regarding saving machines?
I know, I have heard all the talk about randomness and such.  I am not looking for another addition of the RNG files. 
 
Does anyone have this experience or am I the only one?

Dies as in bad luck or dies as in needs service?

Yes.

I've seen a few machines "die", but I just call a tech and they eventually get it back running.  The machine has nothing to do with good or bad streaks. The good streaks will eventually end no matter what you do. The same is true for bad streaks.
 
I've run into situation where my luck has changed after I eat. Doesn't matter whether I return to the same machine or not. I've also had situations where a good streak continues (less often).
 
Once a person understands that it not the machine that is hot, but the person playing, it becomes much easier to live with the ups and downs.

Every nice run comes to an end.  As you continue playing on a machine that's been nice to you it becomes more and more likely that the run will end.  My thoughts on the subject, anyway.
 
Now, what I think is strange (I see this now and again at the local casinos) - someone will put a cup on a machine to hold it while they're playing the one next to it, to "let it cool off".  ???!!  If a machine's being nice to you, why not take advantage of it until it cools off on its own?

I've seen people put cups on 3 or 4 machines. When they find one they like they never go back and remove the cups. I'll admit this irritates me and when they put one on the machine next to me ... I remove it immediately. You should see the looks on their faces when they do return and find someone else playing.

My favorite story along this line -
 
Once, many years ago, I arrived at one of the local casinos and headed for my lucky end machine ().  I saw that it had a cup on it, but no one was around.  I played another machine for a while, then asked a passing slot tech if anyone was playing the machine with the cup on it.  He said that a gentleman had been playing it and asked that it be held while he went back to Denver to get more money from the bank (the BH/CC casinos are over an hour's round trip from the city).  That's another - ????!!
 
Two of my pet peeves regarding cups-on-machines:
 
1)  Players who have lost a lot on a machine putting a cup on it.  They don't want to put more in themselves, but also don't want to see someone sitting down at it and hitting something (my opinion).
 
2)  Players putting cups on machines and then leaving - as in going home.  Inconsiderate, any way you slice it.
