Almost a bad day

Post by pokeherguy »

Yesterday I had several hours to kill because I had to get my truck worked on, so when they gave me my loaner car I headed down to the Grand. I ended up getting my tail kicked there pretty good and only caught one quad. Its kinda rough playing $2 denom DDB at max sometimes. I finally couldn't take it any more and quit. I took the loaner back and got my truck but instead of going home I decided to play a little more at another casino. After the beating I had earlier I was running low on funds so I needed to hit something quick. I got my wish with quad 2's w/kicker for $1,600 and was able to keep playing. Just a few minutes later I was dealt A/Q/10 of hearts and caught the K/J for the royal on the draw.

That's what I call a nice recovery - congratulations!

I'll take an "almost" bad day any day.

Hitting quad wild deuces a few times was an excellent example of a good bad day Eduardo!

VP usually comes down to a few hands to determine whether we win or lose any given day.

Congrats for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

When I got to the Grand I noticed that Cowboy was playing a few machines down from me and he warned me before I even started playing. He said he had been there for a while and he had only caught quad 4's when he first got there but nothing since. Cowboy plays just like me $2 DDB at max but I suspect he has deeper pockets than myself judging from the respect he gets when he shows up at the casino. I can't wait to see him the next time to see how ended up doing and to let him know how my day ended up. It was kinda funny because we were talking about not being able to hit royal flushes at the Grand but we hit quad aces far more times than normal. Thats always been the case at the Grand for some reason. I hope the day comes when I figure out why its like this.

We all have certain casinos where we will do better or worse than average. It's hard enough for low probability hands to average out over our entire life's playing let alone get it to average out in any particular casino.

Some examples of my current streaks at various casinos:

No royals in 100K hands
No royals in 190K hands
3 royals in 24K hands
Not hitting 4RF in 292 tries
Dealt 4RF once in over 20K hands
Quad deuces once in 17.5K hands
Quad deuces 4 times in 9.5K hands

I have more of these but I think this shows what can happen over quite a few hands. Although the number of hands looks big they are really quite small samples for the events being monitored.

I'd bet that if you talked with enough people that you will find others that have had the exact opposite experience.

Shadowman,
But what color underwear were you wearing at that place where you hit 3 royals in 24K hands?
