Intro to me

Post by RogerWaters »

Hi everyone. I've been reading site for a while and decided it would be fun to become a member and start posting some of my experiences.

First Ive only been playing VP seriously for about a year. I've played it since I was 21 (9 years) but up until last October I was more of a BJ player. Last October after playing BJ for about 4 hours I decided to take some of the bank roll and go for a big hit on VP. I sat down at a $ DW game and was quickly rewarded with quad 2s for 1k. Normally this kind of win leads to a quick exit, but today was different. I headed over to another bank of $ machines and called for a slot attendant. I wanted her to crack machine and set it for double up option. I played a few hands not hitting anything at all and started losing my confidence. I glanced down to see how much of my 100 dollars was gone and was startled to see that I only had 40 dollars left. I had accidently picked a 10 credit max bet machine. I wanted to cash and walk but the slot girl was standing close and I felt bad having her go through that hassle just to get up 90 seconds later so I decided to ride out my 100. I hit bet 5 and was rewarded with 4oak (DW game still). I realized betting max is still the way to go if I was going to continue on this machine, so I hit max for a few more hands. Nothing and I say to myself I have no confidence this machine is going to give me anything, but with 35 bucks left I hit bet max and I am dealt 4 to royal. Cool a wild royal or even a flush will be a nice payback, so I hold the 4 card and hit draw. Hmmm the machine locked up. Cue music dun dun dun dun. " no f...ing way!" the lady two machines down asks " did you get something? Oh yeah you did. " I'm starring at an 8k royal flush and the begining of a love affair.

So here we are 11 months later about 140k hands in and plenty of 1600 dollar aces on DB but no repeat of the elusive royal. Best day since is 2 1600 dollar aces within 10 mins of eachother, but I'm still looking for that love at first sight I first laid eyes on last October.

Starting on 9-8 I decided to track my days at the local gambling boats.
That day I started with my normal roll of $500 and left doubled up. Yesterday 9-10 lost 300 on a STP .25 five play and went to ATM to get my other $200 and was denied saying I've hit my limit for the day. Zuh? I haven't used it today. Took that as an omen and called it a night.

I live in Illinois and work in aurora live in Plainfield, so I play at both Hollywood and Empress Joliet. Empress is my fav (hit royal there) but lately have had more luck at Hollywood. I plan on keeping up with updates for anyone that's intrested in reading gambling stories.

Thanks for having me and thanks for reading. Good luck.

Roger Waters? Great vocalist/musician for Pink Floyd but whatever. Welcome aboard and great hits. Is DW your primary fancy?

Yes they do have pay scales that are all over. Have to pay close attention. Hollywood is the same way. Harrahs on the other hand is pretty much brutal all the way around for my games, not sure about all games since they have some I am not familiar with. I do know BJ at both harrahs and Hollywood are a no go. Empress has best BJ game by far.

Welcom Rogerwaters.  One thing I don't get:  Your playing $'s at 10 credits per credit.  Being a $1 and $2 vp player I know that you can lose $1,000 to $2,000 very very quickly; like within 30-45 min. How can you play $'s at $10 a crack with only a $500 bankroll?  You can be wiped out before your drink arrives.
P.S.  I was very much like you.  Primarily a BJ player until my friend introduced me to VP about 19 yrs ago.  Been addicted ever since.

Oh yeah I realize my RoR is through the roof. I actually dont usually play 10 credit max bet, that was an accident. I have played since but usually not with my original stake, mostly after a win on $ 5 max. I am by no means a pro player...actually those games dont exist for me here. I guess I kinda consider my playing sessions as a string of multiple sessions in one. For me its easier to stomach multiple 500 dollar loses in a row than it is for me to lose 2000 dollars in one night. Its not that I dont have the money just really hard to take a 1500-2000 dollar loss in a sitting.Anyway little update on today (or yesterday since it is now 1a.m.) Had a bit of luck followed by a bad run. I started today at a $ DB 5 max, and never really hit anything substantial, but I was catching an uncanny amount of FHs. I ran that up to just over 300 on my first bill in. I caught a run of no wins and decided to cash out at 300. The VP area of the Empress was hoping today and I didnt have my usual pick of machines so I cased the joint for a while and spotted a STP calling my name. This happens from time to time to me, something about a machine just feels different, and as long as pay table is decent Ill play. I decided this machine was acceptable so I sit and put a foot up to settle in for a long play. Game of choice on here is $.25 DDB 5 play. The machine started off really well, got a x5 with a dealt straight. Nice start and feeling good. Wrong feeling wrong machine. Had a couple of glimpes of hope in that I was dealt 3 aces 3 times and deuces 3 times as well, but alas no hits. Within the next hour I ran through the $700 I came to the machine with. No 4oaks nothing higher than a FH and even those were only on single hands. Today was just not my day. STP may be a little to volatile for my taste. Probably best to learn that now rather than fall in love with the game and find out later when it will be harder to leave.Anyone here like the game BPD (bonus poker deluxe)? I played it a couple of weeks ago at Hollywood because I saw the progressive was at 4700 for the RF. I like the pay table and I also like that all 4oaks are $400. Anyone else got any feelings on this game?
