There are two good places in Colorado to play VP, the Black Hawk/Central City area and Cripple Creek near Colorado Springs.  Black Hawk has a bunch of good deuces wild games.  The Monarch casino at the end of the strip has NSU deuces on the second floor in the back.  You can find Airport Deuces in quarters most everywhere. Cripple Creek is an old mining ghost town with a long row of old buildings.  It's a real hoot to visit once you get past the altitude.  Bronco Billy's has triple play NSU Deuces and Airport Deuces is common if you take the time to look.  The most fun you can have with your clothes on....

Dancer wrote a great paperback book on Deuces Wild a few years back.  I have a copy and I think I bought it on Amazon.  Deuces has more variance than Jacks due to the quad deuce mini jackpot.  It's not as bad as DDB, but you can get behind if the quad deuces don't show up on time.  You can sometimes go a few sessions before you get one and then you'll get more than one.   I once got three of them in twenty minutes.  Love it when that happens!

There are two editions of the Winners Guide books regarding to Deuces Wild (I'd wish there was one for Bonus Deuces Wild). Be sure to get Volume 4 instead of Volume 3. Though it is identified as pNSU (psuedo Not So Ugly Deuces), it is what we know as Ugly Deuces or Airport Deuces, 125 for Wild Royal and 75 for 5 of a Kind.

Winner's Guide Volume 4 - NSU Deuces Wild

Shipping costs $7 for a total of $23.50

It is well written and a quality product, otherwise I would not vouch for it.

Given today's market, I think it's wrong to call "Airport Deuces", "Ugly Deuces". But it's probably also wrong to call them "Airport Deuces" too because we all know the airport no longer has they, but I like the sound of it better than "Illinois Deuces".

If you want to want to see some "ugly deuces"...you'll see them in my TR soon.

With so many different deuces pay schedules these days, we could use some new names.   Something like "Dancer Deuces", "Maybe Deuces", "If You're Really Lucky Deuces" and "Not in a Million Years Deuces".

A lot to process. I've had such recent good fortune on JOB. No rush to plunge into this convoluted muck quite yet.

JOB is a fine game.  My wife played in for years right next to me and almost always came home with more money than I did.   She finally got bored of the game and switched to deuces.  My four royals in one day came while playing JOB.  It's gets a little tedious after a while and it's hard to find a decent small denomination JOB pay schedule in Florida.   If you can move to $2 a coin we have 9/6 Jacks in the high limit rooms.  That's  a little rich for my bankroll unless I want to chance going home early .

I must be in full pay Mecca. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Before switching to an identical pay table casino, gung ho DW. But my performance has been consistently better at the new venue, as are the drinks, staff and players. I am a much more confident and relaxed player, even if I nosedive early. In fact, I should try a little dollar JOB on the way out at the new place just to see if my results are comparable.  Theoretically, the hold is even less on dollar play!

Why is that?

The odds are what they are.   9/6 Jacks is the same game at a quarter or $100 a coin as long as you are willing to risk damage to your bankroll if things go badly.   If I could find quarter 9/6 jacks at my local casino, I would play max coins all the time.  Doubling your money for two pair is wonderful.

9/6 JOB is a great game to play with my Martingale Clone method, mainly because of the 2 for 1 on 2 pair. It is a pretty aggressive method, but sometimes very rewarding when hitting quads with many quarters bet. I wish we had 9/6 nickels, but I guess I should be thankful that the game is still available at Mohegan Sun in quarters.
This is the short version on how it works and it usually works well if you don't get greedy....Also you need a machine that lets you bet up to 25 quarters to do this. Not all casinos have that option.
You can start out by betting 1 quarter if you like. Five is better because of the Royal, but 1 will be a lot cheaper. Every time you lose 2 consecutive hands, you up your bet a quarter. When you hit something, you must back your bet down accordingly as well or you will be at 25 units in no time. You can vary to taste how much to back down, but this is what I do most of the time.
On hits, back down 1 unit on a 2 pair hit. Back down 2 units on hitting 3 of a kind. Back down 3 units on hitting a straight, 5 units on a flush, 8 units on a full house and all the way back to 1 unit upon hitting a quad. You will be behind much of the time playing this way, then out of the blue hit a nice quad or even a full house with quite a few quarters bet. If somehow, it is just a bad day and there are those too, and your bet gets up to 25 quarters and you lose 2 hands at that level, I would just cut your losses, relax, try something else, or go home. I have yet to hit a Royal this year playing this way, but 2 years ago, I hit one with 16 quarters bet for a whopping return of 3200 dollars. As most know, my track record on hitting Royals is terrible so I survive by hitting the smaller stuff. One more important thing. To preserve bankroll, it is best to return to betting 1 unit anytime you have more credits than your starting bankroll. I am considering trying a version of this combining Phil's method, but haven't done it yet. The way that would work is this......Any hit of a straight or more, I would bet at least 5 units for my next bet. If it didn't work, the next time I hit for 4 or more, I would bet 6 units. It it didn't work, the next time 7 units and so forth. Hopefully, I wouldn't get all the way up to 25, but if it did, that means I had 20 shots at a nice hit and missed them all.
