[/QUOTE]Well I doubt we have the exact same sources or even the same story, but I personally have been warned by both my cousin, and by a employee at Resorts that there is a lot of credit card fraud/information theft originating in Atlantic city the past couple years...........really no surprise there, is it????

Again what does THAT mean, you can't check into any casino without giving them a credit card, so now every time someone uses their CC in AC there is a chance of CC theft. And being warned by your cousin and an employee you STILL go to AC and use your CC. WOW!

jeter I heard a story on the news this morning regarding a security breach and credit card information with the Landry's Restaurant chain. One of the restaurant groups specifically mentioned was M & S. I just wanted to give you the head's up.

This breach is nationwide and not just specific to Atlantic City either.

Just did the research, one of the only M & S not affected was the one in AC

Again what does THAT mean, you can't check into any casino without giving them a credit card, so now every time someone uses their CC in AC there is a chance of CC theft. And being warned by your cousin and an employee you STILL go to AC and use your CC. WOW!What that means is it is quite common amongst identity and credit fraud/theft rings to specifically target certain areas, and conduct fairly sophisticated and coordinated action(s) to obtain the desired info.....AC simply was the victim of such an coordinated effort by thieves, as are countless other cities, communities and business chains (such as your M& S apparently, although i am unable to locate the exact info online that you guys are talking about......)       I am not sure why you think I would feel obliged to avoid AC just because Credit fraud happens there just like anywhere else.......I firmly believe though that because AC is in such awful shape, the temptation to steal among the employees and denizens still working there must be greater than in other places which are more prosperous. And FYI, you are wrong about not being able to check into a "Casino" (actually its the HOTEL not the "Casino") without a Credit Card......I know at least 2 AC properties that will allow you to check in to your room by instead depositing cash at the desK (usually 100 bucks which is refunded when you check out.....but it has to be a COMP'd reservation and you must be an established customer in good standing with no previous record of having trashed a room or done anything destructive.)    Of course, you will not be able to CHARGE anything at all to your room (like food or movies) if you go this route, and your room phone will not be able to make calls outside the Hotel, but who cares.....who uses their room phone to call out these days anyway?   And myself, on the VERY rare times I use room service I always pay cash.....The two properties that I currently know of are Trump Taj and Resorts ...... if any of you who frequent AC have noticed, since about 6 months ago (or so), almost all properties who take your credit card info when checking in for a comp's reservation still place a charge on your card usually for 50 bucks a night (100 bucks for the typical two night comp'd  stay).......however, in the PAST, this used to be a mere "HOLD" which would subsequently disappear within 48 hours (sometimes sooner) after check in........NOW, instead, AC properties are flat out CHARGING your card the 50 or 100 bucks and them issuing a CREDIT or reversal to your card 5 to 7 days AFTER check OUT......big difference, which amounts to all of us allowing AC hotels to temporarily use our money for a week.     Under such circumstances, if you can utilize the CASH method you are better off.
