Re: 6 month report of 2016 Just added full year 1/2/17
I agree the abrogation of personal responsibility is at the core of most problems facing society, and the world today.....but it is NOT just a "Liberal" trait, its a human trait and I have seen all types of people seemingly deny responsibility for things that go awry in their life and which they themselves are to blame: Young, OLD, white, Black, yellow, male female Democrat republican etc.It has been human nature to try and shift blame off ourselves and onto others, has been since the beginning when ADAM tried to blame GOD for his sin in the Garden of Eden!My point about casinos is that their very nature and intent is to get people to ABANDON (temporarily) being "responsible" and instead spend money they may or may not be able to afford to lose, drink booze beyond what they normally would drink, eat way more than they normally would eat, etc. Casinos practically admit as much....You are obviously right, that just because the casino is there a person does not HAVE to gamble, and could (and should) do so within their means; a person does not HAVE to partake of all the free flowing and available booze. But still we have policies in place whereby if a waitress notices a patron falling down drunk, they are supposed to stop serving (actually it is NOT supposed to progress THAT far...) We have things like the EXCLUSION program where people who apparently cannot control themselves can exclude themselves from casinos, and casinos are compelled to honor & enforce it......obviously if personal responsibility was the beginning and end of it we would not need such a thing(s). I would like to live in a world where everyone bore responsibility for the choices they make.....but we also need some type of protection & balance, because some issues and areas are not always cut & dry. You keep mentioning loans: Well as we previously discussed, in 2007 you had a lot of people defaulting on loans they never should have taken out in the first place......but the RESPONSIBILITY (or blame if you want) was not SOLELY with all those mortgage holders.....many banks and mortgage companies KNOWINGLY gave out and approved loans & mortgages that they knew would NEVER be repaid or would likely result in default! Who is more at fault here? Since the Banks are supposed to be the "professionals" and are supposed to be "Licensed and Approved" and all that, you have to place the greater share on them. Yet they were bailed out, while most individuals went totally KAPUT.

Nice report. One item that struck me is the free play dollar amount. Shows it can be substantial over time. Since my game is mostly 10/6 DDB or FPDW, my free play is almost non-existent. May have to start playing more bonus poker and earn some points and try to get back on the free play list.Anyway, thanks for sharing...

Awesome hits wildman49, especially that throw away royal! Thanks for sharing all those details! It takes a good amount to put six months worth all together.
One item that struck me is the free play dollar amount.
Yes same here. With 73 visits and ~$220k coin in and $3500 worth of freeplay. It is an average of $50 free play per trip at $3000 coin in, it is at least 3 hours at the rate most people play.

Last year did not track my free play, after doing some math in my head I thought wow I had a lot of free play. So this year I tracked any and all downloads of free play. I do know some of you only score free play from VP. I count all free play no matter how I get it. So to clarify it a bit I do hit the promo kiosk may times a month, whenever I feel there is enough to bother. So I would say about $1200 came from kiosk promos and the other $2370 came from VP directly. Below is a promo starting this week where I play. Last year without much effort my wife and I got called 5 times ( me 3 times wife 2). This year I am putting more play and time into this promo. I hammered away Friday for the 5 times entrees. Lets hope it pays off! I will also add this to my free play total if called as again I lump all free play into one pile. Million Dollar Summer

thanks for the report, I really enjoy stuff like this.
those who play DDB/TDB (like myself), on the paytables available to many of us, need to know and accept the swings and the more likely potential loss. for some, the excitement is worth the cost. if I went 73 times in 6 months, I would likely play JOB.
Maybe you can help me notes1. Since you play DDB could you come up with how often over say 20 trips does one go bust on the bankroll? I don't know perfect play on DDB but could learn. We have 3 banks of DDB 99.96% 1-1-3-4-6-10-50-80-160-160-400-40-800 so just wondering the bust factor. I am a bit worried about even trying a new game since things I do and play now are working well for me. Some day I hope to raise my bankroll and DDB looks like a bigger bankroll is needed but im just not willing to risk it right now.

Wildman, I am more than happy to answer your questions. you should know a couple of things in advance.
I never give advice on how to play or which games to play, as I am not qualified. over the last few years, I make a total of about 24 trips to the casino, involving about 30 full days of play. my play is single line, quarter, DDB/TDB. each full day involves about 12-13 hours of play at 700 hands per hour.
most of the machines available for me to play, are either 8/5 or 9/5. I am sure I do not play perfectly, sometimes on purpose. I am purely a rec player, there for the enjoyment, doubts that casino games can be beat long term, but loves VP.
and, I lose. over the past few years (since all the downgrades) , I have averaged total losses per year of $6-12k. one winning year in ten. I may lose $1500 one session and win $700 the next.
I do not have a strict bankroll. I know how much I am willing to lose in a year and if my losses are too high, I just stop going for a while. have played a number of the games and JOB will give you longer play and less losses. I simply find it boring. in a previous trip post, I mentioned I had over $4300 in big wins and still lost. that is what DDB/TDB will do.
even though I lose, I do a good job of getting the most bang for the buck. between the plane rides, hotels, food, bring my non gambling wife with me, I find the current losses acceptable. others may not.
sorry to be long winded, but your questioned deserved more than just a quick answer. there are lots of variables that go into each person's decisions.

Over the past few years (since all the downgrades), I have
averaged total losses per year of $6-12k. One winning year in ten.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I guess it's nice to have AC venues as basically my local casino. Lots of competition still, plenty of full pay. I do play JOB, which most players avoid like the plague. For you it's a total experience, and your losses are reasonable vs the benefits. We are totally different consumers, but gaming accommodates us both. Talk about a big tent.

faa, correct me if I am wrong, but you might be substantially younger than me...62. if so, when younger, i never went to a casino, and certainly could not afford to lose thousands each year. entertainment was buying a case of beer, playing softball/basketball and hanging out with neighbors/friends. our vacations consisted of tent camping in state parks.
you are correct, gaming has a wide tent. i have told you before, i congratulate you on sticking to a small budget, i am sure you have other responsibilities at this time in your life that are much more important.

Great report. I do have a question. You mention playing at the $5 level. With a total budget of $2,000 that strikes me as pretty excessive.

My best advice to you wildman.
I looked at the screenshots again and I picked up something. 35/8/5 Bonus Poker
Play this over Jacks or Better whenever possible, the long run return is greater. Although you get 8 for Full House and 5 for Flush, the 35 for 1 quads more than make up for it.
