Sad Sunday. I won $26 from $25 Caesars dollar JOB FP. I lost it and busted. ATM outside. I busted again. I won $25 table FP on a nine point hit. Progressive $1,001. Net Day: -$312. 197 TC. Had I followed through on NFL hunch, -$20.

Been having a terrible month myself. On the 5th took a $1800 beating in 3 hours chasing a promo playing $5 a hand 9/6 JOB. Had 3k on me but felt I might as well go in the bathroom and flush the rest it was so bad. Felt like a win going home with $1200 of the 3k and calling it a day.

Been on vacation this week, number 5 and last one of the year. Been getting beat up first 2 days, recoup $200 today, tomorrows another day!

That's VP for you, had 3 royals last month +$4000 for the month, knew a few beatings was coming my way sooner then later.

Ride the wave to shore, great feeling, wipe out and hope to live to ride another day!

Hand pay bucket list is my goal. How the hell can you envision losing $600 per hour with something as innocuous as 9/6 JOB? I thought I lost my shirt at $150/hour rate.

In Hollywood the best VP games are grouped together. I regularly play next to a couple who both play $1 triple play 9/6 Jacks or Better. They are both betting $15 each time they push the deal button. The last time I spoke to them, they were down $25,000. They say they make a long term profit and I have no reason to doubt it's true. Losing $600 an hour is nothing to them.

Their game was recently downgraded to 9/5. I haven't been back to Hollywood in a while, so I don't know if they still play there.

I wouldn't play 9/5. The Borgata has dollar 9/6 JOB triple play. i don't play it unless they have a 3x or preferably 5x or 10x promo going. Then it's a good play.

Video poker is not eligible for bonus points at the Florida Hard Rock Casinos and I've never seen a progressive big enough to get me to play it. I'm not sure what the rational is for playing 9/6 $1 triple play Jacks in Florida. We gets all the free rooms we want playing quarters, there is no cash back and the points can only be used for in house purchases. How many T Shirts do you need?

The 9/5 game is currently available at $5 a point and up. I suspect our players who play negative games big do it for because they can, not because it makes sense financially. It's very hard to find a mathematically positive VP opportunity these days. I'm still looking for one in Florida. I've been circling Ultimate X leftovers, but all it does is make me dizzy. :)

Perhaps, just like you, they play for entertainment, and playing for quarters does not entertain them.

I agree. If you are a dollar player, playing for quarters must seem pretty uninspiring. Could it be that $5 players feel the same about playing for $1s? The majority of VP players don't do things because the math says it's the right thing to do. They do what they do because they like it.

I am a quarter player, and its uninspiring as hell. Thus my ill advised dollar play. Sure was fun to get a $250 SF, until I gave it back the next week. Caesars back in my dog house. Love Bally's machines. All games and denominations in a box. Only problem is the upright box design. It's convenient to merely bet $2.50 at ten coin max vs. $5 next door!

I suffer from the same affliction. Here's what I'm doing now and it seems to satisfy my cravings.

I play max coin quarter Bonus Poker or Jacks with one hundred dollar bill at a time. If the counter ever reaches $120, I switch to max coin dollars returning to quarters at $100. This forces me stay with quarters 99% of the time. The anticipation of being able to play some dollar hands keeps me engaged. So far, I have hit some nice dollar jackpots doing this. No royals yet, but a $250 straight flush and a half dozen dollar quads.

I think we would do better mathematically if we stayed with quarters all the time. That is tough for me to do. This seems to be working for me and is holding down my losses substantially. Try it and see what you think.
