Finally a nice hit at Mohegan Sun

Olds, at least you got nice comps. If I keep doing 9/6 JOB quarters the entire visit, I get -$150 and 20 TC. The quarter machines are usually on Cold and I am too stubborn to leave. You know the definition of insanity. I shall avoid them outright. Even an hour on Sat was enough to torpedo me. Now, 9/6 dollars CS. I just grin and bear it. Amass comps while massaging the same odds. Quad does show a bit sooner. I've never made the $5 max bet. I will try one or two per hour. Why play 1,200-1,500 hands per hour? 400 is plenty of fun. So they ding your comps.

I had a most unbelievable trip overnight on the 2nd and into the 3rd. The Mrs did great on Ultimate x hitting quad aces on 3 lines with multipliers on a nickel game that returned her over 500 bucks.
Being the smart lady that she is, she packed in fairly early. I stubbornly played all night although I was holding my own on the DDS deuces wild game. Late in the evening, Mohegan Sun decided to do an upgrade ( I always call them downgrades ) because of the inevitable bugs when they are done. Other that the machines themselves, no tito machines worked, no cards would swipe to pay for things, unable to access your points or awards, and on and on. Anyway, I just kept playing my quarter DDS machine and was never off more than 200 on it. I took a short break with the Mrs. then went back to playing the same machine. Nobody had touched it in the hour of our break.
Then a strange thing happened. Instead of the machine hitting hands that pay at least 2 for 1 every 5 hands or so, the machine started hitting much sooner like every 2,3,or 4 hands. There were a few flurries where it would go between 10 and 15 hands without hitting anything, but then it would hit a straight flush or quads and bring the credits to even or better. Then it finally got into a really strong pattern of hitting something almost every other hand and I decided to take a whack at increasing my bet by 1 unit anytime the paying hands were no more than 3 apart. I also backed the bets back down when it cooled a little. To make this long short story shorter, the machine settled into that very good pattern and I was ahead a couple of hundred and ready to cash out. No premium hands had hit, but lots of quads and full houses. AT THIS POINT I WAS AT BET 18 QUARTERS. I WAS DEALT 4 TO A ROYAL AND WHEN I DOUBLED AND SAW THE LAST CARD, THE DEALT ROYAL IN DIAMONDS WAS COMPLETED AND PAID ME A LIFETIME HIGH BY A MILE OF EIGHTEEN GRAND!!!!!!!

Olds, your strategy is working!  When are you going to write your book?  I'll buy it...

Holy.....W O W!!!  Your humility astounds me, Olds.  Another might have made sure that story/win would've earned the right of a new topic.  It was a joy to read and GOOD FOR YOU.

Congratulations. I cannot even imagine! My $1 JOB game would pay a mere $4,000. I guess you went from $4.50 to $9 on that spin. You won't be switching casinos anytime soon.

First thanks gang for all the well wishes. As to the books Phil, I am actually running a sale right now though I doubt you would be interested. I have a half finished Sci Fi novel I wrote at age 10 in 1958. I have another one I wrote in 1959 that is about 3/4 done. I can't get them published because everything in them has already come true and it is no longer Sci Fi. . Oh I have one more I wrote at age 14 in case you are interested in the life cycle and behavior of a Paramecium Caudatum or Vorticella campanula. My upcoming vp book will be titled....Video Poker Is it all about luck? and How to make your own....Unfortunately, it will have sharp contrasts with Bob Dancer's methods of play throughout. Not that Bob is not an expert on the subject which of course he is and does offer some good advice and explanations. For us recreational players, my book if written will be geared toward the weekend or retiree gambler. The appendix will have some great and healthy recipes and also some not quite as healthy ones geared heavily toward Italian and grilling.
