Bet less so you don't lose so fast, but don't expect to gain an edge from it.
Gain an edge? Absolutely not. CS is an exciting way to play Recreational video poker without the high cost of max betting negative games. If you are going to play VP, you need to understand the math so you can make the right choices. When I win playing with CS and I do, I do not think it was because I had an edge. I know it was because I got lucky and was smart enough not to give it back.

Good post Eduardo and, no, you will not have an edge. Any edge. When you are eliminating the chance of hitting premium hands the payback percentages drop through the floor. And then what? Playing for fun?
Edited to add: I play for fun here on this site but I'm still very competitive here and don't like finishing the day not in first place. Or atleast in positive territory for that matter.
CS does not eliminate the possibility of hitting premium hands. It uses two pay schedules for each hand, one at single coin and another at max coins. Which one you hit is up to chance. I will explain that tomorrow.Your net profit or loss is the difference between what you put in the machines vs. what comes out. What good is hitting a premium hand if you consistently lose more money than you win? CS cuts the investment required on the 90% of the hands you play at single coin so you can keep 100% of the max coin premium hands.

In my opinion: hitting a royal while playing a single coin a hand does not equate to a premium hand. However; hitting a royal when playing max coins at a lower denomination DOES equate to a premium hand.

In order to be successful with CS you must be able to stomach single coin jackpots so you can enjoy max coin jackpots without thinking about how much money you lost to win them. If you are among the few players who always makes money playing max coin VP, you don't need CS. To me all wins are good as long as the net is positive and stays that way.Gamblers love to tell everyone how much they win. No one wants to hear about losses. If you honesty are winning long term. don't waste your time with CS.

Where is it written that you WILL hit a premium hand on those rare occasions when you have max coin in?
Is there any guarantee you will hit all your royals on time? I asked Bob Dancer this question a few months ago. He told me there is no guarantee any of us will live to see tomorrow. Nothing is guaranteed. I would rather play cheap and find out I was unlucky than play big and get the same message. What it comes down to is this. If you are happy playing VP your way, keep what you have. Everyone is different. I enjoy the game. I do not enjoy paying $100 an hour to play VP and going to the casino 9 out of 10 times before I hit a jackpot. I do not think everyone should play like I do. I am providing this information because I was asked to. You can test CS on this website for absolutely nothing. Give a test run, if you like it great. If not, no sweat.

So the goal is to hit a higher denom jackpot before you lose that much, then switch to a lower denom so that you retain your winnings longer and can keep playing?

You raise your bet to max BEFORE you hit the RF. Imagine when you have it perfected so you can raise both the denomination and the coins in just before the blessed event. Thousands of five cent hands preparing you for the $5 coin in RF.
