The variation in posts, and comments from friends, etc., has left questions in my mind about how the RNG selects the cards upon deal, and then upon draw. Also questions about the games seeming to tighten up over time,not pertaining to pay tables, but rather to observed hands dealt .

Question #1: At the instant the deal button is hit, are 5 cards selected and dealt, and 5 more held in order pending the draw action? Or are 5 selected and dealt and RNG continues to spin with only the remaining 47 cards until the draw button is hit?

Question #2: What possible way is there to know if a VP machine is truly as "random" as we think?
Certified by the manufacturer? Certainly.
Manipulatable by the casino? Not so certain.
Regularly checked/monitored by an effective regulatory agency? Excuse me but i could hardly type that one!!
I play regularly at an Indian casino. With all the instances reported of BJ cheating at some, how could i know?
Also i have an article,from many years ago, about a glitch in Game King software, that was discovered and exploited by a pair of idiots for Millions of $ until they killed the golden goose thru sheer stupidity and greed! A fantastic story, i would share if anyone cares, but the only reason i mention it is to add emphasis to this question. Who's to know that there aren't other glitches in the software, maybe unintentional , maybe intentional, that allow manipulation of any number of things to the detriment of the player and to the advantage of the casino?? The manufacturer is in business to sell machines. If the customer asks for certain "software accessibility" ,only for "verification and review purposes" of course.
Do they get it?
Who's to know? I am not a computer geek and i am not making accusations,only asking questions.
However i have been paying attention for most of my 78 years, and government and regulatory inefficiencies are mind boggling, human greed is boundless, and in the computer age the opportunities are unlimited and the nefarious ones hard to detect.

I would love it to get answers from someone WHO KNOWS!!
For the rest of us, who DON'T KNOW, including me of course, let's sit and listen and learn.
Surely no-one can question the importance of this area of concern on the game we all love (some days) and love-to-hate (usually more days).

If i hear from no-one i will not be surprised.

how do i know this? virtual box you can hit the deal button save the game to the a SD card (2nd clone of the game ofcourse) and play out the same game and waiting different periods of time the results always came out the same.

2nd question is we dont know, but if your playing a 99.54 game or lower and your wining its safe to say its not cheating lol

In all the years I have been playing video poker, I have only seen one group of machines that I felt was not completely fair. The problem my wife and I witnessed was not with the RNG, it was with the hold buttons. We pointed the problem out to a slot attendant. The casino management did not comment or respond. Upon encountering this situation, my wife and I left the casino even though our rooms were comped. If you are not completely comfortable, move on.

Video poker machines are notorious for poor maintenance. Hard to prove, but I suspect casinos use this as a way to increase their edge on the players. This would allow the machines to pass any test regulators run on the mother board and CPU. We have all had the experience of playing machines with sticky or non functioning buttons. This causes unintended errors. Some days I have to go through a whole row of machines to find one that works as it's supposed to.

This is probably true for most VP software which runs on your computer, tablet or phone. It would take up cpu resources and power to keep the RNG spinning while waiting (perhaps for a very long time) for the player to hit the "deal" button again.

As far as I know, in all VP machines in casinos, the RNG spins continuously, whether the machine is being played or not. The RNG is most likely a separate piece of hardware within the machine.

Someone posted a link on WoV to the Nevada law on this recently but can't remember which thread. If someone wants to search, party on!

The faulty machine problem is acute at one particular AC casino. Afternoon arrivals find no bar vacancies. When one does become available, you're stuck with the shotgun marriage.

After reading the Nevada law on RNG's,it appears that at deal 10 cards are selected at random. First 5 are displayed as the dealt hand and second five are held to replace any discards, #6 replacing first discard, #7 the second and similarly any other discards.
If anyone cares to check this Google Nevada law on RNG in video poker machines, found good article on this pretty close to top of list.

As we all know play results is not helpful as an answer.

That is incorrect. For example, if what you say is correct, it is already determined that you hit the royal when you are dealt four on the deal and a throwaway.
The fifth card is constantly shuffling until you hit the button.
