Deuces Wild Bonus Questions
I love Deuces Wild, but it's sometimes annoying to get 4 aces with a kicker or quads without getting a big bonus. I tried Deuces Wild Bonus a few years ago and while it seemed interesting, I didn't really know how to play it. Is this a good game? Is the variance better or worse than regular deuces wild? Any other comments?

I enjoy BDW.The variance is a little higher( 32.66 for BDW compared to 25.62 for 98.91% deuces)
But it is nice getting the extra for the 5 aces or the 4 deuces with an A, but your only getting even money back for the straights, so the strategy is a bit different, but at least you don't have to worry about inside straight draws.
Also for people that might be interested in using your system , but haven't because there afraid of getting shorted on the royal, although probably rare , I have seen some BDW games that pay 800-1 on the royal instead of 250-1.

And for a real blast Phil, try Double Bonus Deuces Wild on the Multi Strike game. If you make it up here this summer, I will show you where the lone nickel Multi Strike game is and it also has a quarter and dollar option in the same machine. Feels great once in awhile to hit the deuces quads on the 3re or 4th line with a kicker. Am I ahead on that game, no, but that is my fault for not knowing when to leave.

I hate going for inside straights anyway. They have a ton of these machines at the AmeriStar Casino in Black Hawk. Haven't looked for them in Biloxi. I'll have to give it a try next week. Sure would be nice to hit a quad deuce with a kicker for 2,000 coins! An interesting side note to your post about the royal bonus. There is a small casino in Miami that offers short coin play without a big royal penalty. The max coin royal payout is still 4,000 coins but the royal is prorated so the single coin royal is 800 coins and the rest are somewhere in between. I've never seen that anywhere else.

I hate going for inside straights too , that's probably why I like BDW. There are some strategy adjustments that are a bit different than regular DW.Say your dealt 2 deuces and A , and if the other 2 cards don't make a pat hand or 4 to the wild royal, you keep the 2 deuces with the A.
If I had access to those 800-1 machines I would strongly consider using your system , but I'm one of those that wouldn't handle it very well if I hit a 250 coin royal.lol

I also agree that Bonus Deuces Wild is fitting to those that do not want to play the inside straights.
I have not really got into mastering the penalty situations, but BDW does avoid the inside straights as well as the 3 to a Straight Flush with a deuce and 1 gap for its basic strategy. Only a dealt straight with off suits will be held.
There is a page that describes the various pay tables for Bonus Deuces Wild, I do not see one for a Natural Royal that pays under 800 to 1 for a max credit bet.
http://www.vpfree2.com/video-poker/pay- ... euces-wild
Only the full pay variant still pays 4 for a 4oak and 4 for a full house. Most of those tables pay 3 for a full house, which will alter basic strategy to a point where you do not hold dealt 2 pairs to go for a full house, you have to throw one of them away. Of course, pair of aces will be kept over a pair of 3s,4s,5s, will be kept over pair of 6s through kings.

Just to clarify , there are some pay tables that for the royal they pay 1 coin- 800, 2-1600, 3-2400,4-3200,5-4000.
Compared to most pay tables that pay 1 coin- 250, 2-500, 3-750, 4-1000, 5-4000.
So if you played 1 -4 coins you would not get shorted on the royal.

Since you don't like gutshots Phil, this is a decent game for you. But at the Beau, I dunno if you would find anything good, if you could find it at all. If the beau would offer 12/4/3/2 (SF/4K/FH/Flush), that's 96.22%, which is slightly better than the garbage 20/10/8/4/4/3 Deuces (95.96%).
The next available Bonus Deuces Paytable is 10/4/3/3 (97.36%) and I highly doubt Beau would have it. After that it's 13/4/3/3 (98.80%) which is one notch below full pay, and Fitzgerald's Tunica has that on their 100-play for as cheap as nickels!
I redrew 2222A once, but it was only for pennies, and on regular deuces. The best ever hand I've got while actually playing Bonus Deuces is 5 Aces.
Oh, if by some miracle, if you can find Double Bonus Deuces Wild at the Beau, you should play it. The worst paytable I've ever seen for this game is 20/9/4/3/2 (Wild Royal/SF/4K/FH/Flush) and is 97.68%. In this game you hold even a Deuce and one Ace because Five Aces is worth 800 instead of 400.

Phil,
90% of the time my play is on DW and/or DWBonus. As addressed earlier there are a few strategy changes. I find the slight variance between the two is not sufficient most of the times. On dealt straights my software recommends to look for 3 to a consecutive straight flush and generally hold it over the even money straight.
I find DW Dbl Bonus to be too streaky most of the time. When you do hit 5 Aces for 800 it sure is nice but the loss of the small (frequent) hands can be a bank roll killer.

Thanks for the info. I don't think they have this game in Biloxi, but I've never looked for it. I think I'll try DWB and stay away from the high variance versions. If I'm going to take a shot like that, I would probably go to DDB. I play DDB once in a great while just for something different. I usually give up quick as I haven't hit a decent DDB quad in months. All I have to do is switch back to DW and the quad aces are all over the place.
