Economy Hurting Indian Casino!!??

Post by prseveranc »

Last weekend went to my favorite closest Indian Casino in Palm Springs, California to play a little Video Poker.  I grab my monthly mailer to activate my Free Play and my Free Food Coupon.  Like clockwork I've been getting $100 Free Play per week and a coupon for $50 food comp for each month.  Much to my surprise, no more food coupon. I ask the promotions booth, "Is it just me"...no they have discontinued the coupons for everyone.  I then activate my Free Play only to be told on Sunday its only $75??!! OK..seems kind of Chickensh..but oh well its their rules.  I then notice an entire slot area is closed off with "Out of Service" banners all over.  Also a number of slot islands were turned off with the same "Out of Service" Banners.  I asked a Pit Boss "Whats up"?  He says Business is way down and for Tax purposes they have turned off the machines.  I guess the state of California charges a higher tax on casinos with the greater number of machines?  Anyway, I guess all these subtle and not so subtle cuts may save the casino in the short run...but it just makes me want me to take my business elsewhere.  Anybody experiencing the same sort of cutbacks?

Its not just the Indian's, I got an offer from the peppermill Reno for $100 slot play and 2 free nights stay, and $25 meal coupon, so I planed a trip, and a week later I got a offer and opened it and they said the first one had beenchanged and was only $30 now and one night and no food coupon. So I mailed them back and told them thanks but no thanks. Then when I finelydid go to Reno later I stopped by there to check it out and my card wouldn'twork! Go figure? LOL

I went to San Manuel (an hour west of you) two weekends ago and it was packed.

Vido, San Manuel is a lot closer to the populus than Palm Springs is. A lot more are willing to go a couple of miles to there than to drive an hour south to Spa/Morongo/Agua Caliente. Gas back up over 3 bucks a gal. Jobless rate at 12 plus percent. I can imagine that Pechanga is crowded and Pala not.

Just received my monthly new Coupon from my local Palm Springs Casino (AQ) 9/24/09.  My Free Play has now dropped to $50 even though my play last month was more than previous months and still no more food comp. Come on guys...you are going to lose my business.  You mention San Manuel but the last time I went there I think I found 3 or 4 $1 Double Double Bonus machines.  As big as that place is, you would think the Video Poker selection would be better.  Maybe its changed since I was there? I think it might be time for a trip down south to the Temecula Valley.

Prior to this year, SM used to have quarter tdb 10-play that paid 9/5. it's GONE. they have lots of vp machines but the pay is terrible, although maybe just as bad as AQ?? the .25 machines now pay for DDB 7/5, the .50 machines pay 8/5, the dollar machines pay 9/5. TDB is now only available on 3 play fifty cent or dollar.
The last time I was down at Pechanga which was a few years back, their machines for quarter paid 8/5. so maybe they are a touch better IF they haven't lowered them by now.

Well, personally, I only play TDB or DDB. Also, it's much closer for me to go to SM than to Pechanga (like 40 minutes each way closer).  since the pay schedules are pretty bad, I will allow myself a little vp time but mostly play 21. Those 9/5's they used to have were always paying. Hit 10k on one last year but it obviously was too good to be true to think they would keep them.

I was introduced to one of the casino managers when i was at SM recently and he told me the good pay schedules they used to have at Pechanga have been lowered as well (at least on tdb and ddb).
Also, I don't believe vpfree2 is that accurate(or at least updated). I searched it and it said that the only place in all of las vegas with 5 play tdb full pay is the southcoast. it lists not one casino in town with quarter 3 play. It also does not find any for 3 or 5 quarter play for 9/6 in all of town. For 8/5, it lists none either. How could that possibly be true since the Gold Coast has them?

Yes we had two casinos here (owned by same reservation)and they have shut one of them down except for Friday-Sunday 3pm.  I used to get $200 comp play and it has been cut to $30.
