Nice Lady..
I don't usually talk much when I go to a casino. I enjoy the quiet time to myself and I'm afraid I'll run into someone who wants to tell me about their problems. Anyway, I recently had a very nice discussion with a sweet lady at the Tampa Hard Rock. She was playing max coins and noticed that I was playing single coin quarter DDB. I told her I was killing time, that my regular game was deuces wild and that I play once a week. She told me her husband had died a few years back and that she had been coming every week but had to cut back because of her loses. She looked to be pretty well off to me, so I assumed she had lost a lot. She told me she asked the casino for a printout of her play and was shocked that she had lost so much. "My husband would be very angry with me", she told me. Then she added "My friends tell me only low life's go to the casino." This saddened me because I could see she felt a lot of guilt about what she was doing. I told her she shouldn't feel guilty about coming here and that her husband would want her to enjoy herself. Then she asked me about one of her hands. I looked over and she was playing Triple Double Bonus and had a pair of aces and another small pair. My mouth flew open and I told her to hold the pair of aces as if her life depended upon it. After my head stopping spinning, I asked her why she was playing that game and she said "Because it pays more than the rest". I asked her if she had ever hit 4 aces with a kicker for 4,000 coins and she said "Once a long time ago". I suggested she might consider playing a game that gave her some money more than "once a long time ago". We briefly talked about some other games, odds, training software and money management and I left to go home.I hope she grasped a little of what I was telling her and that she would quit beating herself up. I wish her well...

She can always start playing pass line craps and socialize up a storm. Low house edge!

Isn't it amazing how people will put thousands of dollars into a slot machine without knowing anything about it? It's like they check their brains at the door. I know the odds are against me, but I don't have to grease the skids...

The topic should be more fitting as "Nice gentleman", either way kudos to you for helping out a nice lady who is willing to listen to some good advice!

Just get me out of town with my morning funds. My free play casino has become such a traumatic experience on basic JOB. Just too upsetting. I can't even imagine the high variance game hustle. I will enlist family to call me twenty minutes after I enter to ensure I leave!

Thanks. I don't usually try to help people in a casino, but this lady seemed to be pretty depressed. I guess I have a soft spot for widows. Come to think about it, If I played at lot of TDB I would be pretty depressed too.
