Roller Coaster Month...

Post by roveer »

So Nov wasn't very good, Dec wasn't shaping up to be any better. I went down for my Harrah's shopping event only to get so frustrated that I ended up taking my points in FreePlay and going over to Harrah's. Normally I wouldn't convert an actual gift into FP as that's just asking to throw it away but that's how it went. I managed to turn the 360 dollars in FP into 1,500 (no pics!!!) and ran out of there.

The next two visits were basically train wrecks. I then went down to collect my Best Buy cards and proceeded to have another mini train wreck. Shaping up to be quite a crappy December.

For some reason I decided to go back on Tuesday night. Sure enough I found a normally DEAD machine was in the giving mood. After hitting a 50 cent royal (no pic). I then decided to kick it up to dollars and within 15 minutes landed another Royal, this time full dollars. I played that machine until it was numb and then switched over to another machine then ran into the cove. I was starting to give back more than I wanted. I headed to the door with a ticket for 650 bucks when I decided to throw it back into the machine that was being so generous and just about ready to cash out I draw a pair of 3's on a 8x multiplier. The rest is history. Couldn't wait to get paid and raced for the door. Went and added a gift to each of my family members. That felt good. Won 12.x thousand. Left with 11.8k very happy with that result.

Totally turned around my losing trips + some and set me up to enjoy the holiday.

More concerning was how that machine has been so absolutly dead for the longest time then suddenly shows up as the shining star. Really seeing the light here. Unless I employ extreme money management there is no way to sustain playing while waiting for good times. Have already cut my gambling by 60-70% Might just be 100% at this point. Nice thing is, I won't be all that broken up about it. Anyway. Enjoy.

Congrats on the nice December recovery roveer. I've curtailed my trips as well and my special friend on this site doesn't believe me when I said I hadn't gone but maybe he'll believe you.

Right now I'm thinking the next time I go will be a trip to Las Vegas in March.

Glad you came out ahead Roveer, but I think you just demonstrated what I have been saying (and was experiencing) about AC vp and Harrahs in particular.   The games in general are just dead......now that does not mean that no one EVER wins, obviously some do, but its a lot less frequent, and a lot fewer people, than similar other venues.I recently had the chance to directly compare more starkly than ever before the difference between Vegas VP and AC......but one area I did not focus on was games like STP while I was in Vegas, so I cannot speak directly to how STP behaves in Vegas.....I just know from my own limited exposure to such "gimmick" games in AC, as well as watching others (including a few family and friends)  that they are HUGE drains.......you demostrated this clearly in the above post even though you ultimately escaped in the end.Historically, I have often witnessed the worst months in AC fall in the November thru February range, and it is not hard to figure out why......
