Re: NO ROYALS
Oh yeah, the rigged VP I am talking about was that the Royal Flush was programmed to hit 1/2 the time it should have hit. So this reality is particularly apropro to Farmer1's post.

Yes, the American Coin incident has been well publicized. Keep in mind these machines never appeared in standard casinos. Given the publicity this has received it is doubtful anyone would try to repeat this approach.
My own experience with RFs is I have gotten very close to the right number over the years. I have been above average holding 3 and below average holding 4.
However, you are right that it would be difficult for any individual to determine the fairness of any particular game. We have to trust the regulatory agencies or simply not play.

There's always a danger in taking a special case and then generalizing. One day you might see a story about a bad cop, but it doesn't mean all cops are bad.
I've got detailed info on a few thousand of my own jackpots, and my averages for RFs, SFs, and all quad types (Aces, 2's-4's, kickers, 5's-K's) are all close to expected values. I don't track anything less than quads, so I couldn't make any statements about lesser paying hands. My actual "runs" of jackpots also match those seen in simulated play. So my own personal belief based on my own experience is that when casinos want to make more money off players, they take the legal route of lowering paytables and not cheating on jackpots.
