Re: being gold is not special
Well, Mule, opinions vary about Harrah's Total Reward program. It does make it hard on VP players to reach a higher tier status, since it takes twice the coin-in as slots. But that's true at all properties, I beleive. For me, the portability of the program to numerous locations is key. If I lived in a "casino-rich" location, I may feel differently.
I will not play VP at a location where I am not getting some form of comps, since the pay-tables will always be in the casino's favor. As such, only the comps can make up for long-term play losses.

if you play 97.5% games the expected loss to get a diamond card at 11,000 points $110,000 coin in is -$2750.00 for the diamond card with shrinking comps. like i said i am using up my points playing 1 base point while staying 4 nights at rio 12/23-27 playing fpdw at palms. harrahs can shove it

In closing I will say that some people who patronize this site have benefitted from me and this is due partly to the comradship we have developed here. To paraphrase our big toe SGT Hulka I just have to say: "Lighten up Francis."
Good luck either way. Ted
Very funny, Ted, and it's better than "tweets".

you know,i really hope some of you gold members are not as insecure in real life as you seem chatting during these contests.dr goodell, to say that non gold members are just too cheap to buy a membership was just stupid.everybody's situation is different and maybe the recession hasn't hit you but it has hit a lot of people hard.tedlark you say i'm crying because i take offense to these comments so be it.at this point you couldn't pay me to take a gold membership.since us non gold players can't chat maybe we shouldn't be allowed to read it either.

Tanqueray and I have really enjoyed our Gold memberships. The competion mentioned that arises during the contest is secondary to the competion that Gold members enjoy daily. The credit tracking feature allows us to both compete for bragging rights daily, weekly, monthly and during challenges. It also allows us to come to terms with what we can realistically expect our return to be in a Casino.
I don't know if there are many ( I suspect a few at least) members that are not able to get to Casinos very often for which this site fills that void.
We have been able to meet ( electronically) many people from vastly diferent parts of the Country that share the same interest in VP and now count them as friends.
doris13 I encourage you to try the free trial period for Gold to see if you might also enjoy some of the features I spoke of and the many others I
haven't enumerated.
Good Luck!

I have to agree with Doris...I have played many contests on here and love to read how the gold members are doing - when they hit the Aces with kickers, and their Royal Flushes, etc. And, wish myself that I could share what I have hit with you as well. But, every contest, I also have read the comments that Non-Gold Members should not be allowed to play in the contest, even though it's been explained over and over that it's some how illegal for them to ban non-members from playing in the contest. I love videopoker.com cause I can learn how to be a better poker player, that's what I believe this whole website is about. I have learned so much from you Gold Players, as well, as to what I should be holding and the many wonderful methods you have to getting the highest scores. But it does hurt to know that some of you feel (and it's the same people every contest) that we are not entitled to play and share in the fun of contest a long side of you. I have played in poker tournaments in A.C. along side of people that have platinum and diamond cards, and not any of them have ever said I don't belong because I have a silver card. Videopoker.com is a great place with some fun contests, I think we should be happy that everyone has the same interests and are having a good time sharing in the contests.

I too have played in many tournaments in Vegas and a club memners status doesn't matter. Why it should matter here I have no idea. I agree with you fully. This is about fun and learning. Happy New Year All players!!!!

Hello fellow yp players. I heard there was talk on this forum last night but was too tired to read it then. I have looked at the messages and I mostly agree that no one meant any harm. Just like in the "real world" there are always a few that can spoil the fun - let's just not let it spoil ours. I have enjoyed being a gold member as I like the tracking, being able to play all of the games available as well as the chat. I find it enjoyable to read, and many times helpful. I look forward to another year at vp.com and hope that some of the non-golds give the free 7 day trial a look, but if you don't that is okay too. I do not consider you cheap just because you choose not to buy in - I think you have make a choice for yourself. I have made mine. Best of Luck to everyone where ever you play!
