Re: Reaction to WINNING?

My first RF was back in '95. At that time I thought VP machines were just like standard slot machines. I had been playing here and there with VP for a couple of years at that time.

This contrasts to my wife who got a RF the very first time she played in or around 1992.

In 1996 we found OEJs VP and started playing the game more often. That's when I started reading and learning about the game and VP in general.

I've been playing VP for years, then about 1-1/2 ago started reading some books and learning the strategy, and then reading this forum. Don't have a big bankroll, so I don't get to play a whole lot, but have a blast when I do.  I now have learned 3 games w/99% accuracy (JOB, DDB, DW) and hit my first Royal right on time in March of this year on FPDW $.25!! I was in total shock, and wanted to jump up and scream, but didn't since I was by myself and didn't want to bring attention since I had a ways to walk. I took a picture on my cell phone.  I was on a VP high for days!! Then last month my stepfather took us to Laughlin for my birthday and I hit another on DDB $.25!  This time I jumped up and down and hooted.  I think I have as much fun tracking my play and learning the strategies as I do actually gambling.  I really enjoy reading the forum, and have learned so much from the mathmatical responses (sometimes my son, engineering student, has to explain them to me...).  You all crack me up - I sit here at computer laughing, and then have to explain to my husband what is so funny.
Thank you all for writing about your experiences - I live vicariously through you high rollers - and answering questions in such detail.

BTW, I saw the picture of Roland posted, I swear I sat next to him in Laughlin before, and he was really different...

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your recent RF's.

I live vicariously through the high rollers too.    My biggest hit ever was a $2 RF four years ago, and I literally didn't believe it - thought I was having a dream, even after they paid me.

my first royal was at the old sands in vegas long before the days of triple poker.i was playing a bank of progressive .25 jacks or better.i was pretty quiet because i didn't want to draw any attention to myself.the best royal i remember was my mother's.it also happened at the sands on a progressive but she only held a king and drew 4 cards and hit it.everyone else at that bank of machines cashed out and left.we really couldn't celebrate it cause we had to leave for the airport so all the money came home with her.

The first one for me came on July 4th 1996 (after 2 years on playing here an there)at about 2 in the morning.  I had been playing .25 all night and not doing much then I started getting torched loosing all my money quick.

So I decided might as well put my last $100 in the $1 machine (which at this point in my gambling career I rarely if ever did) but I did it so I could go ahead and leave because I was about 1/2 asleep.

So I stuck the $100 in a Deuces wild machine and managed to play for quite some time.  Then 1/2 asleep and paying not much attention.  I held the AXJX10 and it filled in the K&Q of hearts for my first Royal.

The machine blew up playing "We're in the Money"  I did't know what was going on.  When they came to pay me they had a little cart they called the "Lucky Genie cart" he played music and they even video tapped it.  They gave me a Harrahs hat and recorded the whole thing, payout and all and took a polaroid.  I still have the tape somewhere lol.

It was so bizzare looking back at it now. lol.  Now your lucky to get a pat on the back.   That was my 1st Royal, then managed to get the 2nd one dealt to me at Sams town Casino the next Saturday.  But this time on .25 dueces but it was a Natural.

The places here used to automatically send someone over with a camera and T-shirt.  Those were the days.  I had pics taken for about my first 30 RF's.  Now that I'm a veteran I just...<yawn>.

spxChrome - that video has to make you laugh.  I don't have any video/pictures of me, but I do take pictures of winning hands.  The casino people just tell me - wait til I walk away before you take a picture.  I've never had a casino employee offer to take the picture.

The jackpot song (what ever it is now) is wonderful - for the first five minutes, then it gets annoying.  Especially when it draws out all the looky-loos.

I won $2k on a 50 cent bet on a keno machine.  I hit 9 of 9 numbers.  It lit up like a vegas marquee.  If you hit the last number your win multiplies by 4x.  I watched while it picked the last number, and I hit that too.  Some bleached blonde that looked like she had fleas was standing behind me - telling me that's around $400.  I just smiled and said yup, hoping she'd go away.  I was afraid her fleas would jump on me....

Good luck to all - hit something big.

Congratulations Taurus, now keep 'em coming!  Mighttwin, I have to laugh about the fleas...we've all seen folks like that, hmmm?  I really don't remember my first royal (I've been gambling for awhile) but I do remember when what is now Harrah's in Joliet first opened (I don't think it was Harrah's then) and it was a boat, my husband and I just made it for one of the "sailings".  It was really crowded, and finally a .25 vp machine opened up.  Well I put my first $20 in and got a Royal.  I was really stunned, and pretty excited, but it probably took 35 minutes before I got paid, and then the "cruise" was over!  I paid for dinner on the way home, of course
