Congratulations roveer. Glad you trip was awesome. Really love when those hits don't take any effort to decided what to hold.
Thanks for all the well wishes. It was just one of those nights. The quad aces came first so that gave me a cushion. I took three thousand of it as a check to ensure I went home a winner. Something I used to do, but stopped doing for a long time. Now its an absolute must for me. I had a bankroll of nine hundred real dollars and about two hundred twenty dollars in free play. I decided to go real slow. Starting at Nickels I managed to hit a 2x aces w/k and managed to get my hundred free play that I put in up to about four hundred. I gave a little back messing around with frenzy, but then turned my attention to STP. I had to wait a guy out who was playing in the middle seat. Now that there are only 3 machines if someone is playing the nickel denom in the middle your going to be sitting next to them. I knew that wasn't going to work for me, so i kept circling until he finally gave up. I felt I was basically due for my quarterly dealt aces and while I would have loved to have it on dollar 10 hand, I just can't hold a small bankroll at those prices, so fifty cent 5 play it was. I bounced up and down all night and gave a bunch back on 2 dollar single hand dream card but then ended up back at STP late in the evening when I started to think "I'm due for a Royal". Just about to get up figuring I was closing in on a train wreck I hit the royal. I went back out to my row of STP and by that time my phone was starting to blow up with the standard Monday BS. I could tell the machine was ready to play. During the early hours of the morning it had basically gone dead. What I refer to as the kill zone where it won't even give you a pair much less a multiplier. I've noticed that for whatever reason that they can come back to life after 6am and this one did. I started to get a few hits and managed to add 500 more to my total. Just then a jumpsuit guy told me they had to get the cash out of the machine. The trolley guys had been chasing me all over the casino. Normally i would have let them do their thing and then go right back to it and lose everything I managed to accumulate. As soon as I got up, I headed to a cash out machine and then the door. All the indicators said, time to go. I had been there for 10 hours, I had things to do on Monday. I hadn't slept and I managed to pocket six+ grand with nine hundred bucks. Like I said, in the past I would have stayed till it was all gone. This time I practiced a little restraint in everything I did the whole evening and had a good outcome. I also didn't drink either. I know there were times where a combination of being tired and drinking has affected my judgement. This time was different.
Not sure when I'll go back, but that six grand sure took the sting out of the last few visits.

sounds to me like a combination of good luck, restraint and discipline. used to drink a bunch of beer, but quit 20 years ago, because it was screwing with my heartbeat. i know how tired i get after many hours of play and combining the booze with that, is probably not a good idea. sounds like a smart move to hold off on the drinking, taking a check and be disciplined enough, to get your butt out of there, while you were ahead. congrats.

You played that bad hand like a pro. I hate sitting next to people and try to avoid whenever possible. My casino has the three machine set up too, on each side of a small bank. At your off peak time, hell you should be able to play in peace. Plus you wound up delaying the RNG just long enough for you to cash in! $7,600 in five hands on one screen. That is an incredible sight.

Sounds like harsh advice. We're all fanatics here, but cherish the night. It won't be long before bitter losing trips crowd out the memory.

But the way I read the post's tone, he's mostly trying to avoid the person because he/she was playing nickels. If they were playing Quarters+ would he still have cared? Or at least as much? I'm assuming he may have wanted to avoid seeing a nickel player possibly get happy over a $100+ win? I know I cherish my nickel STP wins over $100, it's been over two years now I think!
Personally I would rather play next to someone unless there was a reason they bugged me, mostly smoking in that regard, or if I'm moving machines frequently. Damn casino chairs are usually gigantic.

V, I see now. It was because it was a nickel denom player. I guess that's justified. It's definitely awkward when I play adjacent to a max coin player, or higher denom player. It shouldn't affect me, but we're all human. Re your other point, I have seen some gigantic slots chairs! Never at VP machines. Lately I've gotten the touch screen players next to me. That's a real distraction, these arms jutting out from my peripheral vision. Especially when I'm in the middle and surrounded by two with that style. I think they have been too conditioned by their smartphones. Way to roar back to the forum, Roveer!
