Re: Two Royals
I only got a royal once in my life and it probably was a fluke. I put a few coins in a machine and I got 3 cards to the royal, held them and got runner runner for the royal.. I turned a 25 cents into over 100 bucks which I was happy with.
I turned a 25 cents into over 100 bucks which I was happy with.
Good for you! If you keep that attitude you could be well on your way to reaching the nirvana of video poker "breaking even" long term. For 99.9% of players pumping max coins into a video poker machine hoping for enough royals to make a profit is a foolhardy endeavor. This is true because it is extremely unlikely you will hit enough royals long term to make up for your losses. Some folks claim they can make it work, but I believe it's because they get lucky over a few years, or their play is subsidized by comps or some other video poker related income source. A win is a win no matter how it comes to you!

I don't know Phil, there is a player on this forum that wins 80 percent of the time he plays. I believe him because everything posted on the internet is true.

And I bet this same player has the requisite discipline and fortitude to stop playing when they are ahead, this way the winnings are kept and the losses are minimized. Greed is a stealthy killer when playing video poker and there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a 2 or 3 hundred dollar profit, stopping play, and calling it a winning session. Gee, nothing to it. I mean; from what I'm told.

If that's how you do it then that is believable.

If you do that, say, four times in a row, and be up around $1000, and your next "session" is a $1500 loss, you can still correctly claim 80% winning "sessions", even though you're down $500.

. My ultimate "winning" goal is to break even for the day.Â
i totally agree. If I can break even for the day, and have my meals and room complimentary, That's just fine with me. It is after all, all about cheap entertainment.

Absolutely, TL. Get the hell out. Winning means leaving a dismal money pit casino as soon as free play is over for a venue with a proven track record. I hit a $50 Straight Flush there today, off a four card hold. I could only leave $43 ahead. The free play casino produced $29.50 in VP; I gave back $9. The losing was just gearing up when I bolted in terror.
