*** a hot summer ***

Several months of using FP without playing caused my mailers to drop considerably to $10-$15 several times per month. I expected this.

I was back in action with about a $2k BR, but still $5k in the red. The first two trips were losers of $716 and $187. Another bust-out was looking likely.

Thankfully, after a 6 month drought, handpay #4 showed up. I was playing DDB DC, hovering around even, when I was dealt a pair of aces and the DC gave me the third. The draw worked out perfectly. When asked to spin it off, I was dealt quad nines for a total daily win of $2142.90 after tax and tip.

Unfortunately, another looking streak set in with give-backs of $100,$115,$487,$290, and $800. Thus, all the handpay was given back. Then a bit if a winning streak of $238,$107 and $106.

Much like #4, handpay #5 was AWAK on DDB DC. I was down when this one hit though. Still, a nice $1554 payday after tax and tip.

At this point I was still in the red $3664, but much improved from the low point.

A minor loss of $299 was partially offset by a win of $101. Sometimes towards the end of my daily stake I would switch to $2 QQ. A $520 regular quad or $800 premium can really bail out a day. Such was the case, but I wasn't expecting this

I only won $955 on the day though. This made me realize that $2 QQ isn't such a great idea, as now all quad aces and smalls w/kicker are handpays.

Usually after a big win the next day I take the hundos and put them to use; make extra mortgage payments, pay utilities in cash, new tires for the truck, whatever. This time I didn't though and gave back $595 playing DSTP 5 hand quarters. A week later I won back $416 though. At this point I was down $2900 and a $1 royal or TDB AWAK would put me in the black.

*** Sure enough ***

A bad day was in the works. Nearly busted, I switched to TDB DC, instead of $2 QQ. It worked. Hot damn! A long royal drought was over.

It was nearly back to back. When ask to spin it off I was dealt trip aces with a kicker. I didn't connect. +$3024.80

I was no officially in the black a mighty $13.58.

*** a familiar theme ***

After a few small ball sessions of -$80 and +$177, a bad day was in the works. As bust city drew near, I again switched to TDB DC. It didn't take long.

+$1122.75

*** honey, bring home the popcorn ***

I guess the casino doesn't appreciate winners, because at this point I was essentially no-mailed. $5 FP, but only after earning 25 points. They did however send me a promo postcard for a free tin of gourmet popcorn and a chance at winning free play. I was leaving for work and the wife said to bring the popcorn home. I couldn't care less about casino crap, but a chance at FP sounded good to me.

After work I had an hour to kill until the giveaway began, so I played. I proceeded to donk off $1587 in that hour. I didn't win any free play and the popcorn was pretty good.

*** raining quads ***

Now I was slightly back into the red for the year. Then a $100 winner. Next was one of those sessions we all love. I shoved $400 into DC DDBn. Almost immediately hit quad 4s with kicker. I told myself when the meter hits 800 I will leave. Soon quad 3s, then quad 4s, a straight flush, sevens, and topped it off with aces. The machine was spitting out tickets which I crammed into my wallet. Eventually, the meter did hit 800 and I left up $2263 with no signers.

Good fortune continued and the next two visits were both winners - $364 and $380.

*** cause momma ain't home ***

....Daddy kept the boat afloat.

My wife is pretty cool about gambling as long as I don't stay too long or put us in the poor house. She and our son took off for a Florida vacation for a few days, leaving me to myself.

I dropped them off at the airport and of course I dropped in. It was a bust, down $1995. This big loss didn't sting. I had been on a heck of a run and I knew a day like this could happen. I wish it did sting because I went back 2 more times and gave them $2495 (I think my worst loss ever) and $1200. Nothing I tried worked out - $400 QQ, $400 DC, $500 on the progressive, $400 50cent TTB, all down the drain and quickly. Again and again.

The yearly total was now -$2901. Smarting from the loss and growing weary of the swings, I didn't set foot into a casino for over a month.
