Re: Harrah's Joliet 3-23-19
Tedlark, there was no criticism of you whatsoever intended in my posts. I was simply replying to the post from FAA that said: "Or in his case, consistent winner."
I feel that it is very important for players and would-be players to understand that there is no such animal in VP as "consistent winner" unless we can luck into the very rare situation where paytables + cash/comps equal >100% (and we play perfectly) and only play in that unique situation.
Occasional winning sessions are wonderful, and in no way was I taking away from your joy. I have also had a greatly inflated AGI, to the point where it would invite skeptical responses on this board. Despite the inflated AGI, I had many losing sessions that year --- many more losing sessions than winning sessions. It was a single winning hand of almost $75K that made me greatly plus for that year. So despite having a great year, in no way could I be termed a "consistent winner." As I wrote above, that animal does not exist in VP except for highly unusual situations. Once those highly unusual situations are taken advantage of, they are generally removed or modified, sadly.

Yeah I know. Ugh. IGT chose the feature probability to be 1 in 6 which exactly balances out the average Hot Roll multiplier of 7X.Waiting4RF wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 2:40 pmI saw an analysis years ago of Hot Roll that concluded the feature added 0% to the return.
Average value of multipler over all dealt hands.
7 x 1/6 + 1 x 5/6 = 2
Since the bet is double to pay for the multipliers, there is no return increase in hot roll.
I had hoped they would increase the feature probability to something like 1 in 5.95 to slightly boost the return.
Basically the same idea applies to Double Big Wheel Poker:
6.05 x 1/5.049 + 1 x 4.049/5.049 = 2.000198059
Divide by 2 since it's double the bet, and stuff after the decimal point is the extra benefit if the base game is 100% return: 1.000099. Basically 0.01%. Grrr. The actual benefit is slightly lower since they aren't going to offer a 100% paytable. But I was pleased that a Native American casino with no nearby competition offered a 97.40% nickel game (97.41% with the feature lol).
